Activity 4: Individual Task

Answer the following briefly.

1. What can you say about developmental tasks presented by Santrock? How about the presentation
of Havighurst?
The developmental tasks presented by Santrock showed the progress before birth up to adjustment
to new social roles in the late adulthood stage. There are 8 stages and for every developmental
stage, there is an expected developmental task. This taught me that even though you are not born
yet, you are experiencing development inside your mother’s womb. It is more on psychological
activities that develops the emotional and social aspect and mind of a person as sign of maturity.
The physical attributes showed in the later stage. The presentation of Havighurst showed that there
are 6 stages of development with an expected developmental task. From infancy wherein we learned
the basic developmental tasks like walking, eating solid foods, talking, then knowing sex differences.
Thus this presentation is more on physical skills, sex differences, roles, family, and adjustments to
late adulthood.

3. Based from the things that you’ve learned in this module, what is your personal understanding about
developmental tasks? How it influences growth and development?
For me, developmental tasks are part of the human development where there is an expected
changes, milestones or behavior in every stage that should be achieved by a person at a particular
age. In every stage of development, it influences the growth and development of a person that can
be seen in every aspect of their lives. The physical, emotional, and psychological aspect began to
change and sign of maturity. They have grown up and can do many unexpected things as they
developed their skills and abilities and as they enter a new stage of development and acts upon their
developmental tasks.
