Self and Other Awareness

Demonstrates an understanding of ones


strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
constraints. Is self-aware and knowledgeable
about their personality type, learning style,
approach to conflict management,
management style and much more. An
individual who is competent in this area is also
aware of their level of emotional intelligence
and the impact of their behaviour on others.
They understand and respect individual
difference and seeks to build positive working
relationships. Can reflect using a range of

Independent Thinking

Demonstrates an ability to make sense of things


based on one’s own experiences and
observations. Independent thinkers are
generally confident in their abilities and accept
that making mistakes is a natural process to
coming up with the most appropriate solution.

Confidence to Express Oneself

Demonstrates an ability to push oneself outside


of one’s comfort zone to communicate feelings,
needs, interests to another (verbal, face-to-
face, or written). Individuals who can express
themselves are also able to assess their
competencies, showcase confidence and
command attention from the intended
audience, in a range of settings, namely
occupational.

Leadership
Demonstrates an ability to lead in a
professional manner when required.
Competence in this area also indicates one’s
ability to respond positively to challenges,
demonstrating consideration of the impact of
one’s decisions on others. Is reliable and
dependable.

Resilience and Mental Toughness

Demonstrates an ability to thrive in the face of


adversity. A mentally tough and resilient
individual sees challenge as an opportunity and
not a threat and responds in a confident and
positive manner.

Knowledge Application

Demonstrates an ability to apply knowledge to


practical decision making. The ability to pay
attention to detail to understand how
businesses operate and engage in problem
solving is also indicative of competence in this
area. Being able to approach problems in a
critical way, and evidence findings through
presentation or report writing.
Curiosity and Forward Planning

Demonstrates an ability to seek out


opportunities to gain knowledge and explore
learning opportunities. Individual’s competent
in this area tend to prepare for oncoming
obstacles, set short, medium and long-term
plans, and they are determined to achieve

Achieving Results
Demonstrate an ability to achieve results at a
high standard, and in an ethical manner.
Informing others of progress and unforeseen
delays when working on projects. The ability to
evaluate tasks and hold oneself personally
accountable for the outcome of the task, and
the continual improvement of the processes.

Team Working

Demonstrates the ability to work co-operatively


with others, to be part of a team, to work
together in a non-competitive way.

Business Awareness

Understanding what activities the job involves,


and the skills and attributes needed to be
