Standard Chemical Pumps
in Exotic Metals
SGL Group’s ISO 2858, NFE 4421 and DIN
24256 standard chemical pumps have a proven
record of exceptional reliability. All parts in contact
with corrosive media are made from exotic metals
such as titanium, Hastelloy, nickel alloys or zirco-
nium.
This ensures that the pumps are imper vious to liq-
uids and resistant to highly corrosive and thermal
stresses, depending on the process conditions and
fluids involved.
Capacities range from 2 to 3,000 m3/h and
discharge heads from 5 to 150 mCL.

Besides these standard types, we cater for special
requirements and develop pumps which can also
be used safely and reliably for more demanding
duties. In such cases, we work closely with our cus-
tomers. Our teams of experts analyze the required
liquid transfer and, on this basis, develop solutions
which optimally meet their requirements in terms of
performance, design and economy.

1 Impeller
The impeller is assembled by welding massive ex-
otic metal parts together. It is fitted with back van-
es for optimum reliability, thus reducing the axial
forces on the pump and ensuring a controlled
pressure in the seal area. This assembly makes for 2 Pump volute
optimum service conditions. The cast iron or carbon steel external volute of the
pump casing is lined with exotic metal sheets (tita-
nium, Hastelloy, nickel alloys or zirconium) to
ensure appropriate corrosion resistance.

lubrication and good heat distribution. A constant-
level oiling system maintains a correct level and
allows visual checking.

Our standard chemical pumps are of the “back- by made much easier and safer. Moreover, the

Impeller Design
Open or Closed
We offer great flexibility of application in terms of
delivered flow rate and discharge head.
Impeller design
Closed impellers are designed for the transfer of
clean fluids. Pumps equipped with closed impellers
make for high discharge heads and good yields.
Open impellers are especially suited to the trans-
fer of loaded fluids. Pumps equipped with open
impellers make for lower discharge heads and
higher flow rates than pumps of the same type fit-
ted with closed impellers. Their yield is lower,
owing to the clearance between impeller and cas-
ing.

Mechanical Seals
Highly Reliable
Single mechanical seal
This is our standard seal design for exotic metal
pumps. It is suitable for clean corrosive fluids, non-
crystallizing fluids, temperatures up to 100°C and
pressures up to 16 bar.

3 Can
Our magnetic-drive pumps are made absolutely
watertight by an exotic metal can.
4 Wetted bearings
Inside, wetted bearings made from massive pure
silicon carbide are lubricated by the pumped
liquid.
5 Oil-lubricated bearings
Outside, the oil-lubricated ball bearings ensure
that the drive magnet is properly centered when
rotating and guarantee that the bearing has a long
service life.
