First Speech: Intelligence Is Not Enough

Intelligence is the ability to learn and obtain knowledge. Bill gates, Warren Buffet and

Jeff Bezos are three of the world’s most wealthiest men, from their creation of Microsoft to

Duracell batteries and Amazon, it shows that “Intelligence is not enough” it’s actually just the

beginning you must be able recognize your strengths and take full advantage of them, but also

perfect your weaknesses. Many people go throughout life listening to family members and

friends even and even school teachers say that without intelligence you are nothing, but what

happened to manners and morals? I’m sure you’ve all heard to the old sang “Manners and

behavior carries you through the world. If intelligence was enough why not say intelligence

carries you through the world. Imagine that you are the CEO of a well-known company and two

applicants applied for the same position one with a 3.5 GPA and the other with a 2.5 GPA. The

applicant with the honor GPA is arrogant, lack self-motivation and has no manners whereas

despite the other applicant academic background he is humbled, hardworking and willing to

conform to the position at hand. Who would you hire? Being smart with brilliant ideas and no

work ethic, is like planting a seed of an idea without nurturing it. Lazy geniuses cannot be

successful. It takes Courage do something that terrifies you, Discipline obey regulations,

Persistence continuous determination , Will power the strength to carryout decisions made,

Creativity use your imagination, Consistency be that person who others can depend on, Positive
energy no doubting and even Wisdom experiences that made you who you are today to

successfully elevate yourself.
