A MAN OF THE NIGHT

The ___NIGHT___ his _______PARENTS__ died, Bruce __WAIT_____ a long __TIME___ at

the __POLICE_____ station. One of the police ___OFFICERS_____ there was very
__KIND___ to him. His ___NAME__ was Sergeant James Gordon. Bruce _NEWS____ that he
was a __GOOD___ police officer. He __WANTED_____ to __TO___ to Gordon ___KNOW__.
But he didn’t __GO _ as Bruce. He __PUT__ on his black ___BODY__ suit and a
_MASK_____.
When ____BATMAN___ appeared in Gordon’s office, the sergeant was
______SURPRISSE_____ and frightened.
“Who are you?” he ___ASK____. “What do you _WONT____?”
“Don’t _BE__ frightened, Sergeant Gordon”, said Batman. “I _NEED____ your __HELP____”. I
__KNOW____ Carmine Falcone is the ___BIGGEST_____ criminal in Gotham. Why is
everyone frightened of him? Why does no one ___STOPED___ him?”
“___BECAUSE_____ …” said Gordon, “he pays all the ________IMPORTANT PEOPLE__
_______ in Gotham!”

Bruce _WENT_____ to the ____RIVER_ for the first time in many ___YEARS___. There were
lots of ___PEOPLE___ there. They didn’t __HAVE___ homes. They ____SLEPT__ in the
____STREETS___ every night.
__SOME___ people were standing ____AROUND____ a fire. Bruce stood with them and
warmed his __HADS_____. He ______LOOKS__ across the street and pointed to a
__DOOR____.
“Is that Carmine Falcone’s club?” he ___ASK____.
“Yeah”, someone said.

The _NEXT____ day at EWORK______, Lucius Fox said, “_COME_____ with me”, Mr. Wayne.
I __WANT____ to ____SHOW__ you something”.
Bruce _____FOLOWED___ him into a _BIG___ room. There, in the _CENTER_____ of the
_ROOM____, was a ___FANTASTIC______ car.
A few moments ___LATER___, they were in the __CAR__ and Bruce was ___DRIVING____ it
faster and __FASTER____ along the road.
“Go __SLOW_____, Mr. Wayne!” shouted Lucius.
“No way!” shouted Bruce. “___THIS__ is fantastic! This isn’t an ordinary car. It’s more
_LIKE____ a plane. ___CAN__ I __HAVE___ it?”
“Of course”, shouted Lucius. “All these ___THING____ are yours ___ANYWAY_______!”
Later Bruce drove the car __BACK____ to Wayne Manor. “I’ll ___COULD___ it the Batmobile”,
he told Alfred.

Bruce was a ___MAN__ of the ___NIGHT____ now. He was Batman. He stood on _TOP___ of
a ___BUILDING_______ near Falcone’s club. He ___WATCHES______ the street by the river.
He __SAW___ a police officer ____TALKING____ to a ___GROUP____ of ship workers. The
officer ___TOOK__ out a small ____WHITE____ bag and __GAVING___ it to the workers.
__DRUGS______! Some of the Gotham police were __BAD___ too. Falcon was
____PLAYING____ everyone.
Falcone ___SAT__ in his office with Dr Crane, the ___POST___ of Arkham Asylum for the
mentally ill.
“Our boss is ____READING____ very ___SUN__”, said Crane. “When I tell him
__ABOUT_____ the ___MONEY_____- his money- he won’t be ___HAPPY____”.
“Don’t tell him”, _SAY____ Falcone. “I won’t __TAKE___ any __MORE___. This is the
___LAST___ time”.
He gave Crane a ____SMALL__ bag.
“Do you ___WANT___ to test the drugs now?” he asked.
______SUDDENLY___ there was a loud bang and the ____SOUNDS___ of guns.
Crane ___QUICKLY_____ escaped through the door. Batman __FLEW___ into the room.
“What are you?” asked Falcone.
“I’m Batman. _______EVERYTHING____ changes tonight.”

Batman crossed the ___CITY___ to Rachel’s house. He ___CLIMB_____ through her

_____BEDROOM___WINDOW ________. “Rachel, ___WAKE___ up” he said. “I want to tell
you something. Everything changes ____TONIGHT_____”!
“And who are you”?
“A ___FRIEND_____. I want to do good, like you. I want to __FIGHT_____ the bad people of
Gotham”.

Sergeant Gordon arrived at the river. A lot of ______NEWSPAPPER____ people were there.
They were ______TAKING__ photos. _NEXT_____ to ship there was a __LARGE_____ box
_FULL____ of small bags of drugs.
Falcone’s __IS___ were lying ___BEHIND_____ the box.
“Fantastic” said Gordon. “Where’s Falcone?” He ___ALWAYS____ escapes trouble”.
“Not this time” __LOOK____. “He’s over there”, someone said.
Gordon looked. There was a big ____LIGHT___ next to the river. A man was lying
___ACROSS____ the light. He wasn’t _____MOVING____. It was Falcone.
Rachel ____RATE__ the newspaper the next day and saw the __FOTO____ of Falcone on the
___FRONT___ page. She ___SMILE____.

At the police station, Sergeant Gordon’s boss was very ___ANGRY___.

“Who did this to Falcone?” he shouted. “__FIGHTING FAST___ him _____! The police
___LOOK_ stupid because of him”.
“I think he’s ___TRY_____ to help us, sir”, Gordon said.
“We don’t _NEED____ his help!” shouted his boss.
“Well, I think we ___PROBABLY______ do”, thought Gordon. But he didn’t say anything.

Dr Crane was ___VISITING_____ Falcone at the police station.

“Tell the police I’m mentally ill”, Falcone said to him, “or I’ll __TELL___ them about you and the
drugs.”
Crane was angry. “What do you ____KNOW__ about me and the drugs”? He asked.
“I __KNOW____ that you __TEST___ them on people in your ____HOSPITAL____”, said
Falcone. “I know the boss is _____PLANING____ something big.”
“____WOULD___ you like to see my ___MASK__” Said Dr Crane suddenly. “I __USED__ it in
my tests. People are very frightened of it. They don’t like it at all”.
He ___OPEN____ his bag and took out a ____HORRIBLE____ mask. He __PUT___ it on.
“How do I look?
WHOOOOSSSH!
Suddenly white ___SMOKE____ came out of his _BAG___.
Falcone ___TRY___ to shout but his __KNOW___ and his ______ were on fire. __HE_____
came out of his ______. He saw horrible things in front of his _EYES____. Crane quickly put the
mask back in his bag and shut it.
He ___COULD____ a police officer.
“I think Mr. Falcone is certainly mentally ill,” he said to the officer. “We’ll __MOVE____ Mr.
Falcone to Arkham Asylum. We can ___TAKE___ care of him there.”

Earle __WAS__ angry. Bruce Wayne was back in Gotham. Earle wanted to __SELL___ Wayne
Enterprises for a lot of ___MONEY____, but now he ___COULDENT______.
And now he had another ____PROBLEM_____. His number 2 at Wayne Enterprises, Rogers,
was _____TELLING___ him about it.
“One of our biggest __CHIPS____ has disappeared,” said Rogers.
“There’s a big, ______EXPENSIVE MACHINE_____ _________ on that ship”, said Earle. “A
very ______DANGEROUS____ machine that can _____CHANGE WATER___ ________ into
steam.”
