The disadvantages of Social Media outweigh any benefits

One of the most harmful inventions in the history of Mankind is that of Cigarette.
People have been chewing and smoking for a long time. But with researches
pointing to the fact that smoking has serious effects on the health of people
around the world has brought about the reduction both in the production and
sale. In the light of studies conducted to find the harmful effects, there is now a
debate on whether we should make the production of Cigarettes illegal.
The most practical reason for banning the production of Cigarettes is that it has
no medical value. It is the cause of many diseases like heart disease, diabetes,
bronchitis and others. Every year, millions of people lose their life because of the
habit of smoking. It is the single most reason for lung cancer as it involves inhaling
of smoke produced by burning of tobacco. The smoke reaches deep inside lungs
causing lung cancer.
Another reason for making it illegal is that it is addictive in nature. They suffer
withdrawal symptoms when they do not smoke for few hours. These are so
intense that people can never quit smoking even if they want to do so. It is often
said that people develop the habit of smoking because of the influence of some
friends, often in an early age but are not able to quit.
Even though a person may not be a smoker, but he may suffer from the effects of
passive smoking if he is in the company of smokers. The harmful effects are no
less severe for passive smokers who suffer for no fault of theirs.
