1
Task 1
The first part of the report consists of an analysis of the different resource requirements
of the three profiled business. This must be followed by an outline of the key
requirements that business in different sectors must consider when managing resources

The three sectors constituting an economy are the Primary sector, Secondary sector and
also Tertiary sector.

Resource Requirement for Agriculture-based Business

The stem is an agricultural business working on the strategy of farm to table where crop
produce is done by the customers themselves. The resources in agriculture business are
very limited and it reduces the need for the labor required in product managing and
harvesting.

The fundamental resource requirement for the stems business includes land, location,
proper financial and risk plan, planning of function and production, packaging and shipping
of goods and employee and labor training.

Resource Requirement for Engineering Business-

Business2 -is an engineering technology-based business that manufactures panel systems

for vehicles such as rails, cars, and ships. The manufacturing planning for engineering, a
business should be well organized so that the production is done in a structured way.
Scheduling and future planning should be done for production and effectively using the
resources.

The business requires a lot of technological factors such as human resources should be
skilled and trained. The consumption of proper resources and machinery in order to reduce
man-hours must be considered. The management of resources should be properly planned
and well organized by the organization partners in order to attain growth.

Resource Requirement for Call Centre Business-

Call center business is also technology-based and involves a lot of resources to reduce the
time lapses. The structure of this business is very fast-paced which requires the effective use
of resources used. The call center basically works on the purpose of providing solutions to
its customers. The best technological solution will give way to achieve the desired results.
And it should be done by trained and well skilled human resources to achieve the required
results.

2
Requirements businesses should consider for resource management

Organizational resources management needs a special effort to deeply look into the routine
workings and operations of a business.

Requirements which should be considered in stem business are-

1. An agricultural business should always plan for capital and agricultural crops in order
to start its operations.
2. Proper planning should be needed in order to achieve the successful harvesting of
crops.
3. The land is the necessary resource required for the business of stem with suitable
field and labours skilled for managing customers because of ‘its pick your own
produce’.
4. With all the amenities of car parking, product packaging and shipping should also be
considered by the management and it should also be the main concern in the
requirements of resources.
5. Risk management in terms of crop damage should be planned.
6. Security measures should be arranged to avoid theft issues that must be well
measured.

Requirements which should be considered in the manufacturing business are-

1. The manufacturing business always starts up with a properly developed factory

with the required equipment for functioning and production.
2. Equipment of modern technology is needed to run the operations and planning
for producing engineering products.
3. Human resources required for this business should be well-skilled to operate the
machines required for production.
4. Unskilled laborers are also necessary for the business.
5. Always have a plan for proper investment and finance because without money
manufacturing plants cannot be started.

Requirements which should be considered in the call center are-

1. Technology-based contact point and call centers provide solutions to customer

2. Call centres have their basic focus on providing contact point services to businesses.
3. Technology advancement with well-trained staff is the basic requirements of such a
business.
4. Calling software with time management techniques is the most important
requirement of the business.
5. The human resources hired for these organizations are well trained and effective in
managing time.
6. Infrastructure like buildings and seating capacity of the needed human resources.

3
Task 2
In this part of the report, explain the importance of the effective use of
physical resources by providing

A. An evaluation of how the use of physical resources is monitored and

managed.
Physical resources are important for an organization to start their functions and
conduct daily operations. It is crucial for an organization to maintain and monitor
these resources to achieve targets timely and efficiently.
Physical resources include premises or buildings, equipment, amenities, machinery,
and waste. Since land is always required for working, therefore the organization
should manage the buildings, according to the needs and requirements of business
and consumers.
Management of equipment or any technology in the business is also important. If
the organization lack management and monitoring of equipment, the operations will
not be efficiently performed
To perform the standard you need to-

1. Give opportunities for team members to take individual responsibility for the
efficient use of physical resources.
2. Monitor the quality of physical resources continuously.
3. Ensure your methods of monitoring the use physical resources are reliable.
4. Monitor the actual use of physical resources against an agreed plan at
appropriate intervals.
B. An evaluation of the impact of resource wastage
The businesses always have an appropriate plan of waste management for any business.
The material that is wasted through human activity or any other reason is handling to
prevent the negative impacts over health and environmental factors.
Sometimes to get the resources, wastes are also managed. Waste is mainly a product of
resources that are consumed by humans. Practices for sustaining the resources can improve
the use of waste in a productive mode. It also contributes to the economy and social factors
of the country. Wastage of resources has a direct impact on the business and economy of
the country because of the effective cost and profit loss reason.
Wastage of resources has an adverse effect on the environmental factors also. Businesses
should also look upon the social impacts of waste resources by contributing to the products
that can be used.

C. An assessment of the costs of high profile technological failures

4
Failures are basically the result of a lack of planning and management. Due to lack of
maintenance and lack of up-gradation in technology can lead to technological failures,
which has a huge impact on the productivity and efficiency of the business.

Nowadays, if companies do not invest in technological up-gradation, they will have to suffer
huge losses. ‘It can lead to the re-establishment of the technological parts. By tracking and
assessing the technology operating in the company activities in a timely manner, the
organization can prevent these errors and costs. Management should implement
performance and quality management systems to prevent lapses’[ CITATION Pri04 \l 1033
]. Technology performance and quality management will decrease the likelihood of failure-
induced operational inefficiencies. For example- ‘A new study has revealed the hidden costs
of technology failures with 25 per cent of contact centre projects suffering cost overruns
and delays, not helped by the chronic lack of testing.
The survey published by the researcher Customer Experience Foundation (CEF) in
conjunction with Empirix, a specialist in service quality assurance for call centres. It was
conducted among 100 of the UK’s major 1,000 contact centre operators who had
experience with contact centre technology projects worth over £500,000 ($875,762).
It found that when a project overruns, it can add 90 per cent to the original budget and
more than seven months of extra time, on average. For a typical $1.75 million project this
translates to an average total spend of $3.32 million’[ CITATION Tom09 \l 1033 ].

D. Use of ethical and sustainable resources

The backbone of every business and the economy are the resources. The resources should
be consumed by keeping in mind the ethical values of the business. The utilization of
resources in an unethical manner causes an adverse change in an environment and the
economy. Environment sustainable practices may help the business to gain a good
reputation in the market and also increase the competitive edge. The company should
maintain the sustainable use of resources by the prevention of waste and by supervising the
use of natural resources used for production.
For example- Companies like ITC spend a lot of money on making the farmers earn the right
price for their produce. Also, they help in taking care of the environment by planting a tree,
helping farmers use the right kind of seeds. This helps them in taking care of their Corporate
Social Responsibility.

Task 3
Referring to the profiled business or similar organizations, in this part of the
report explains maximize the effectiveness of human resources.

i. An assessment of the need for Human Resource Planning in the

Workplace

5
The procedure of connecting the human resource needs of an organization to the strategic
plan of an an organization in order to make sure that qualified and sufficient staffing is done
is known as human resource planning. It also helps the organization to achieve the goals.

To reduce employee turnover and achieve an edge over competitors the component of
human resource planning has become very important for organizations. The planning of
human resource is done to develop the competencies within the organization or hire new
employees. These plans and strategies for the fulfilment of human resource needs of an
organization are evaluated timely and the resources hired are also monitored and
developed. ‘Human resource planning is strategically connected to the organizational goals
and objectives because human resources serve as the foundation in achieving those
objectives’[ CITATION Mau04 \l 1033 ]

In the profiled business, the experienced human resource is essential for Agribusiness as
they need to have knowledge about the type of plants that can be grown, and the type of
nutrients required. Similarly, for the second business workers know how to operate, repair
and maintain the machines. They need to be provided training and technological up
gradation. In the third type of business, the employees should be able to know the problem
of the clients and provide the support to their clients.

ii. Analysis of how Theories of motivation can be applied to motivating

people at work
Motivation plays an important role in achieving personal and professional success.
Organizations focus on motivation in order to achieve efficiency and growth. The desire
or an inside ability to do something is known as motivation. ‘Motivational theories will
also reflect what employees want from the management if they remain productive and
perform efficiently’[ CITATION Mul04 \l 1033 ].

The application of motivational theories will help managers to understand and highlight
the reasons why employees are devoted or why they are not devoted. As a result
managers will understand the ways to motivate their employees to improve their
performance. Managers need to have a basic knowledge of work motivation because
extremely motivated staff is more likely to create a product or service of better quality
than staff lacking motivation. The desire or an inside ability to do something is known as
motivation.

iii. An evaluation of the methods used to monitor and improve employee

performance
The performance review technique is the fundamental method of tracking and assessing
employee performance. It enables the business to align individual objectives with the

6
objectives of the business, state performance problems, and helps create training and
growth plans for staff.

Performance reviews should be an organization's standard exercise, but annual reviews help
the organisation evaluate how the individual worker can benefit the organisation. It has a lot
of effect as wage increases and promotions are based on these performance reviews that
will also assist the worker assess themselves.

Another way to improve the efficiency of staff can be to coach and advise the staff. They are
lightened by counselling and spending time with staff to decrease job or personal pressures
and help increase their morale. They set targets in company to achieve the goals. Company
take customer feedback that helps them to make changes in their work. For example-
applying 360 degree appraisal ,which will help the company to review the performance of
each employee and which will help the organisation to improve the skills of their employees
which are required for efficiently and effectively working in the organisation.

iv. An assessment of the effectiveness of reward systems in different

contexts
Generally speaking, to attain the highest level of employee satisfaction and motivation, an
efficient system of reward is compulsory. Reward system includes integrated procedures,
policies, procedures and administrative methods for applying the system as part of the
human resources design strategy. Different firms use different scheme of rewards, and
below are some of them in distinct situations. Bonus schemes for employees are excellent
strategies that can be used to trigger real motivation. Bonus schemes take into account
variables such as customer service, participation, quality, and group and employee results in
terms of financial element. Another scheme of rewards, considered one of the most critical
motivators for employees, is salary raise. It is, in reality, a main factor of motivation behind
the results of a worker. In addition, the promotion also falls within the kinds of reward
system, whereby its worker's benefits are accompanied by giving them a greater
responsibility.

For example, the Company PQR goal this year was to earn $0.08 per share. On December
31, it closes the books for the year. Two weeks later, after the accounting has been
completed, the company declares that the earning of this year was $0.16. Because the
company beat its goals, it decides to reward certain employees who played particularly
important roles in beating the goal. These employees receive a check for, say, $18,000 as a
thank you. We call this a performance bonus.

Task 4
In this section of report, review the effective use of human and physical
resources in a specific, live business of your choice

7
This reporting task / section comprises of the efficient use of human and physical resources
in the call centre business concern. In this assignment, the case studies are discussed with
the aim of knowing the surveillance scheme for the use of physical resources against
performance measurement and processes, knowing the evaluation of information on the
performance of staff, knowing the results on the efficient use of human resources and finally
making suggestions for improving employee performance.

A. Monitor the use of physical resources against performance measures

and procedures.
The physical resources required for a call centre business is a proper location, technological
advanced equipment’s for making telephone calls to provide customer service solutions.

B. Analyse data on employee performance

Overall performance reviews are carried out in the business call centre on a periodic basis,
i.e. weekly and monthly, to maintain the staff motivated. In addition, measuring the general
effectiveness and productivity of performance of staff is conducted annually. The
performance can be based on the internal review and also based on the feedback obtained
from the customers to know about the efficiency of the employees. Based on these the
employees can be rewarded as best call centre manager or representative of the month or
year with a good amount of incentive to stay them motivated towards their work.

C. Produce findings on the effective use of human and physical resources

Effective use of human and physical resource is a crucial aspect for the success of
organization. The planning of effective use of these resources helps the organization to
deliberately support with the overall organizational objectives.

In a call centre the usage of human resource is very important because well trained
employees are always required to attend to customer calls and complaints. Timely
training and development programs for people working in call centres are also
important to achieve the effective results.

D. Make recommendations to improve efficiency

 Managing the growing volume of calls by proper arrangement of tasks among the
employees
 Quality control
 Developing and monitoring key performance indicators
 Encouraging, motivating and positively rewarding the performance of employees
with their recognition
