A. GENERAL
1. The detailed engineering design documents shall be prepared to include, but not be limited
to, calculations, drawing control sheets, design drawings, shop drawings (where
applicable), and other engineering and design related activities to complete the WORK.
1. Before commencing any design and engineering activities, CONTRACTOR shall conduct
thorough study and survey of PROJECT SITE and acquaint himself with information
concerning SITE conditions to help in developing detailed design documents.
3. Where the CONTRACTOR does not have the capability of providing detailed engineering
services, the CONTRACTOR shall utilize engineering design companies approved by the
COMPANY.
B. DESIGN DRAWINGS
1. Preliminary design drawings for use as reference are listed on Temporary Drawing Control
Sheet, KT-811570 and enumerated as follows:
2. CONTRACTOR is responsible for the exact number of drawings required to complete the
detailed design documents.
3. Design drawings shall be prepared in accordance with the COMPANY Engineering Design
& Services Procedures as follows:
4. Design drawings shall be drawn in CADD using Microstation format. Final "original" design
drawings shall be submitted as follows:
1. Hard Copy: Plotted on Size "A" COMPANY drawing format, high quality paper (format
will be provided by the COMPANY). Plotter to be used shall have minimum 600 dpi
resolution. Final drawings shall be clear and sharp plot; and free from tears, stray
marks and smears.
c. Digital Files: Microstation digital files on CD ROM. Use of other media shall require
prior approval from COMPANY.
C. ENGINEERING CALCULATIONS
1 Engineering calculations shall be provided in accordance with standards, codes and
manuals referenced in Part 1, paragraph 1.03.
D. SUBMITTALS
a. 30% Progress Submittal: All basic design drawings, initial calculations, drawing
control sheets, and other reference documents completed and ready for preliminary
checking.
b. 60% Progress Submittal: All design drawings, calculations, drawing control sheets,
and other reference documents completed and ready for checking.
c. 90% Progress Submittal: All design drawings, calculations, drawing control sheets,
and other reference documents completed and ready for final checking.
2. Where progress submittal does not meet the specified percentage completion, as
determined by the COMPANY, the submittal shall be considered incomplete and shall
require a revised submittal by the CONTRACTOR.
3. Submittals "a", “b” and “c” requires a minimum of two (2) copies of submittal documents.
One (1) copy will be marked-up by the COMPANY and returned to the CONTRACTOR.
Second copy will be identically marked-up and retained by the COMPANY for reference
during the following submittal, or where necessary, during a revised submittal.
4 Submittal "d" shall include the complete set of original detailed design documents
(construction specifications, drawing control sheets, calculations and references, and
design drawings) and one copy; with "Drawn by" and "Checked by" dated and initialed by
CONTRACTOR.
Final design drawings and drawing control sheets will be designated Revision "0".
6 Submittals will be reviewed and returned with the following notations:
Approved
Approved as Noted
Not Approved
Design drawings and calculations returned as "Not Approved" shall require a revised
Submittal by the CONTRACTOR to ensure coordination with other design related activities
in order to maintain the PROJECT schedule.
E. REPORTING
1. Monthly report shall be submitted by the CONTRACTOR on the first working day of each
month. It shall state progress on detailed design WORK, WORK completed since last
report, WORK to be completed by next report and problem areas noted.
F. SCHEDULE
1. Schedule for completing the detailed design documents and designated submittals shall be
agreed upon by the CONTRACTOR and the COMPANY.
2. Submittals shall be reviewed and approved by the Company after one (1) week upon
submittal.
2. The above schedule will immediately take effect upon signing of the Contract.
