To use these Grooves:

All DAWS:

Please note, each DAW has its own way of handling grooves. Not all grooves will work
perfectly in every DAW.

Ableton:

1) Place the “Grooves From Mars” folder anywhere you’d like on your computer. Ableton
Live recommends the following: User Library // Grooves

2.) In any session, open your Groove Pool by clicking the icon below the browser, or hit
Option+Command+G.

2.) Browse to the Grooves From Mars folder in Live’s browser.

3.) With one or more .agr groove files selected, hit enter, and they will load into your
Groove Pool

4.) You can now apply these grooves to various midi and audio clips, individually or as a
whole.

5.) More detailed information on using grooves in Ableton can be found in the user
manual, or online at https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/using-grooves/

Logic Pro:

Logic Pro:

1) Drag and drop .mid files directly onto a midi or instrument track. (Depending on your
version of LogicX, you may be asked to import tempo data; if so choose “No”)

2) If you want to save the midi clip as a groove template, go to the quantize menu,
under region, in the left library panel.  Towards the bottom of the drop down menu you’ll
see “Make A Groove Template”.  Note: You can select multiple midi clips, and create
grooves templates out of all of them simultaneously.

Additional info on using grooves in Logic:

There is no “universal groove pool” in Logic.  The Grooves/Quantize settings are

attached to each Project individually.
You can build a project with our midi clips, create groove templates out of all of them,
and save that project as a Template.

That template can now work in two ways:

1) Create a new project from that template (this will include all your groove templates in
the quantize menu)

2) Import the template into an existing project.  This will will import the midi clips, but
you’’ll have to re-add them to the quantize list. To do so, go to Import > Other > And
select the template file you made.  This is normally found in User > Music > Audio Music
Apps > Project Templates.
