Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text,
including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of specific
word choices on meaning and tone, including analogies or allusions to other
texts.
3. What information/data did you use to design this lesson? How did the information/data
influence the planning of this lesson?
This lesson comes straight from StudySync which the main curriculum as mandated by the
district.

Instructional Strategies and Activities
5. What teaching strategies will you use to teach this lesson? What resources will be utilized?
Guided reading, video demonstrations, and modeling. Resources are StudySync and an
excerpt from Paul Revere’s Ride.

6. Why did you choose these strategies and resources?


Even though this lesson is provided by the district, I stand by it because of the proven
strategies. I probably wouldn’t have chosen this excerpt, however.

Lessons in StudySync are cyclical. Figurative language will be addressed again later in
