Usage of Mobile Phones among Students

Introduction
Mobile phones are the 21st century creature. In the early stages of invention they were only used
to communicate over long distances without wires. But now due to the advancement in
technology they are used for many purposes. From the simple plain model to the high-tech,
picture-taking, video-recording, internet models. This has changed the whole definition of
mobile phone to a smart phone and it has become very popular. The first mobile phone operated
on an analog service was developed by Motorola, Inc. Mobile phones have grown to be the most
widely used portable device in the world. Mobile phones may also be referred to as wireless or
cellular phones.

Statement of the Problem

I have keenly observed a social evil which is harming the students greatly. This is the
excessive use of mobile phone by the students. Mobile phones have become the need of
everyone in the country. They are the quickest means of communication. They have reached
almost every student. It is very sad that the students misuse them in their daily life.

Research Objectives
The author aims to provide the influence of mobile phones. Its importance and the
adverse affects it has one a student’s life.

Research Questions
Following are the questions that are to be asked in the report:
 Why the production of mobile phones is increasing rapidly day by day?
 Why students of young age are attracted towards mobile phones?
 What feature of mobile phone attracts the students widely?
 Is this good for students under 18 to use mobile phone?
 How mobile phones are helpful to students?
 How they are harmful to the students?
 How they affect their mental and physical health?

Significance of the Study

This study will let us know about how the mobile phone has changed the life of
students how it has benefited a student in many ways and how it has some negative effects on
the life of a student. Being useful creature it also has some adverse affects on the children and

Purpose of the Study

The purpose of this report is to make awareness about the increasing usage of mobile
phones day by day and how it affects the student’s life. How it is helpful in many ways and how
it has adverse effects on a student’s life. How students are attracted towards this creature. How
mobile phone has affected a student’s mental and physical health.

 Methodology

Population
More than 500 students from University of Lahore were asked different questions
regarding usage of mobile phones in their life and its good and negative effects on them.
Data Collection Tool
Questionnaires were provided to the students which contains more than 20 questions
regarding the research. Students were given some specific time to attempt the questionnaire.
Data Analysis Tool

Data was analyzed based on the answers provided by the students. Many students come
up with the same answer on many questions.
