IMPORTANCE OF NOMINATION
METHODS OF NOMINATION
If nominations are made from the floor or by a nominating committee, they may
closed either on the initiative of the Chair or through a motion by any member.
Unless voting has actually begun, nominations may be opened by a majority vote
through a motion to that effect. (Closing and Reopening Nominations)
Nominations, therefore, are more than a mere formality in parliamentary
procedure; they serve to manifest to the assembly that those nominated, by their
expressed or implied acceptance of the nomination, are ready and willing to serve if
elected.
