Chapter V

SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND

RECOMMENDATIONS

This summarized the study by highlighting the

research conducted on the topic. The conclusions drawn from

the outcomes of the research and recommendation were base

from finding and conclusion of the study.

This study explored single women’s views towards the

institution of marriage. This chapter presents the key findings

of this qualitative study. The limitations of this study and

recommendations for Old Maid-Perceptions Towards Marriage

in Datu Paglas Maguidanao and how they change their belief

through marriage and future research are discussed. Last,

this chapter concludes with a summary. The study was

conducted to determine the Oldmaid-Perception Towards

Marriage in Datu Paglas Maguidanao Specifically, it sought to

answer the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age;

1.2. Gender;

1.3 Tribe and Culture

1.4 Religion

2. Is there any significant relationship between Oldmaid-

Perception towards Marriage in the year 2019-2020?


The respondent the study were the twenty (20).

Respondents were chose through random sampling. Random

sampling is a probability that was not selected based on

characteristic of population and the objectives- UC Davis

(2002). Frequency counts and percentage was the statistical

tool used in the study.

Summary of Findings:

The findings of the study were summarized as follows:

1. Majority of the respondents were female aging 20 to 35

years old.

2. Where was the study conducted in Datu Paglas

Maguindanao.

Discussion

The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore

single women’s views

towards the institution of marriage. This qualitative study

found that women’s

liberal and conservative views towards non-marital

childbearing, divorce, and marriage, did not affect a women’s

desire to enter the institution of marriage. Furthermore, this

study found that women exhibited both liberal and

conservative views, regardless of religiosity. Last, this study


found that women commonly exhibited the traditional view of

marrying prior to starting a family, regardless if women

accepted engaging in behaviors such as financial stability.The

finding of religion not influencing women’s views is consistent

with previous research demonstrating that many women do

not draw on religion to make decisions and only discuss

religion as an importance to their life but do not put it into

practice in their decision making process(Sigalow, Bergey, &

Shain, 2012).

Scope and Delimitations

This study was intended to obtain an in-depth

understanding of single

women’s views towards the institution of marriage. However,

this study had

several limitations, such as, having a tiny sample size of ten

women. Interviewing participants for this study who only

resided in Datu Paglas Maguindanao was also a limitation.

Another limitation of this study were the participants age;

majority of twenty (20) randomly participants were 35 years

of age and 20 younger, whereas only a few participants were

over 30 years of age. Last, the wording of certain questions

on the interview guide served as limitation for this study.

Recommendations
For the citizen of Datu Paglas Maguindanao for those

Oldmaid and Research The significance of this study is for

the people of the philippines to be open minded for the new

learning for “the way through ignorance is Inform Learning”

to have a better understanding of the diverse views and

behaviors of unmarried women.

The findings of this study will enhance awareness of

women’s preferred lifestyles and assist to think before they

will enter to marriage life and avoid the early marriage and

early pregnancy in diminishing the stigma associated. Since

stereotypes of single women still exist in today’s society, this

study should assist women`s in overlooking these

stereotypes and recognizing how women themselves are

delaying as well as refusing to be married.

Therefore, it is imperative for society to be aware of

women’s preferred lifestyle amongst women as well as

respect unmarried women’s behaviors. Furthermore,

women`s will be aware of micro services to provide to

unmarried women; this includes providing resources in family

planning and women’s health, such as annual women exams,

birth control, pregnancy testing, HIV/AIDS testing, and STD

screening. It is recommended for future research to be

conducted as to why single women have the desire to marry.

Conclusions
The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore

single women’s

towards the institution of marriage. The snowball sample of

this study consisted of ten single women from Datu Paglas

Maguindanao. Furthermore, this study found that women

exhibited both single men and women are open minded and

conservative views, regardless of religiosity.

Last, this study found that woman commonly exhibited

the traditional view of marrying prior to starting a family,

regardless if women accepted engaging in behaviors such

early marriage and pregnancy. The significance of this study

for women`s is for being aware of the situation to marriage

life to have a better understanding of the diverse views and

behaviors of unmarried women.

Therefore, the question if the marriage had affect to the

oldmaid-perception towards marriage ? Yes, there were

several findings that marriage regarding to new generation

and situation were the single are involve also affect their

decisions in marriage this year 2019-2020 and even in the

future.

The findings of this study suggest single women`s need to enhance

awareness of women’s preferred lifestyles and assist their ideas of marriage

in diminishing the stigma associated with unmarried women. Furthermore,

women`s need to be aware of micro services to provide to unmarried women;

this includes providing resources in family planning and women’s health such
as annual women exams, birth control, pregnancy testing, HIV/AIDS testing,

and STD screening. It is recommended for future research to be conducted as

to why single women have the desire to marry.
