Miltos Katsaros

Monday, 13 October 2003 2:30 P.M.

Blegen Hall Room 250

Athens prepares for hosting the Olympic Games in August 2004. As did previous Olympic
cities of recent years, Athens undertakes massive building projects. The challenges remain
formidable but teams of national and international architects have created designs for an
architecture that surely will outlive the moment. Miltos Katsaros, Assistant Professor at Patras
University, has been a major participant in this enterprise. He completed several key Olympic
commissions and has additional designs on the boards. This gives Katsaros an insider's view
of the artistic, personal and political complexities of this great architectural opportunity.
