Course/Section: BSE-MATHEMATICS PCED-06-401A

Ms. Minchin would like to examine whether the scores of her grade 9 students in her first
reading level test are normally distributed. She randomly selected 30 from her student’s papers. She
obtained the following scores as follows:

8.10 9.20 9.50

8.20 9.20 9.50

8.20 9.20 9.50

8.70 9.30 9.50

8.70 9.30 9.60

8.80 9.30 9.60

8.80 9.40 9.60

8.90 9.40 9.70

8.90 9.40 9.70

8.90 9.40 9.90

at .05 level of significance:

Ho: the 30 randomly sampled ninth grade reading level scores are normally distributed.

H1: the 30 randomly sampled ninth grade reading level scores are not normally distributed.

observation ( 2-tailed)

30 1.007 .263 Not significant Failed to reject HO

Using the K-S 1 sample test for normality (1.007), the computed P-value of .263 is greater than .05 level
of significance thus, the null hypothesis is not rejected. This implies that the 30 reading level scores of
ninth grade randomly selected are normally distributed.
