Tim Cook: CEO Apple


It was a monumental task for Tim Cook to step in the shoes of Steve Jobs, one of the charismatic
tech CEO’s the world have ever seen. Six weeks after Cook assumed the position of CEO, Jobs
passed away raising concerns about the ability of cook to lead the tech firm into a new era
marked with lots of competition and innovations. However, cook has proved critiques wrong, he
made Apple the first trillion-dollar company- when he took over the firm had an annual turnover
of $350 billion but within seven years Cook has led the firm to reaching a trillion in revenue.
Currently, Apple stands as the world top tech companies.
Awards & Achievements
 He was named one of ‘Forbes’ magazine's ‘World's Most Powerful People’ in 2011.
 In 2015, Cook was inducted into the ‘Alabama Academy of Honor,’ the highest honor
given by Alabama to its citizens.
 He received an honorary doctorate from ‘George Washington University’ in 2015.
 In 2017, he received an honorary Doctor of Science from the ‘University of Glasgow.’

Since the day Tim Cook took over as CEO, Apple he has substantively changed the firms
organizational structures. Cook being a transformatory type of leader, much of his task at
Apple has to change the hierarchical structure established by jobs. Currently, Tim cook
has been able to reduce the rigidity in reporting and employee-managerial relations.
Cooks’ seven years have seen decentralization of managerial tasks to departmental heads-
allowing them to autonomously make decisions.
