Data Presentation and Data Analysis

The researchers conduct different kinds of testing to ensure the performance and

durability of Bioadsorbent Processing Machine. The testing of the machine is to be done in the

Food Laboratory located in the front of the Laboratory High School of the Bulacan State

University. The different kinds of testing will be applied at the different parts of the machine

which is the drying oven, slat conveyor, ventilation fan, centrifugal pulverizer and its motor, and

frame.

Another way for gathering data will be conducted through survey and the respondents

will be the Mechanical Engineering students in Bulacan State University. The questionnaires are

made from the scratch material and it is provided by the researchers. All data gathered will be

evaluated through research instruments.

I. Testing of the Machine

a. Drying Oven

In this part of the machine the bio-waste undergo drying process. Each

bio-waste has different drying time and drying temperature. The bio-waste should

be washed and cut into small pieces before putting it into the oven. To test the

efficiency of the drying oven, place the bio-waste inside the oven.

During the drying operation, check if the temperature can reach up to

120°C using the regulator. Test also if it can last up to 6 to 8 hours maintaining a

maximum temperature of 120°C.

b. Slat Conveyor

The function of the slat conveyor in the machine is to hold the bio-waste

while being heated and to deliver the bio-waste to the pulverizer. There are two
slat conveyor located at the drying oven and each can be loaded about 1.5kg of

bio-waste. To test if it is durable, the researchers will check if it can withstand

1.5kg of load while being heated for 6-8hrs.

After the drying process, the researchers will test if the conveyor can

efficiently transport the dried bio-waste into the pulverizer. The procedure is

simply rotating the handle at the back side of the machine. Check if the handle

can be rotated easily and if the stopper really function well.

c. Ventilation Fan

The researchers used ventilation fan to avoid moisture formulation inside

the oven. Evaporation occurs at the drying oven when the bio-waste is being

heated. Without ventilation fan the moisture will continue to circulate inside the

oven and formulate water droplets later at the walls. To test the effectiveness of

the ventilation fan, the machine must be at the drying process. The researchers

should observe if there are water droplets at the walls and the site glass. If there is

such moisture, the researchers recommend a larger fan.

d. Centrifugal Pulverizer and its Motor

The researchers used a centrifugal pulverizer for grinding the dried bio-

waste. The pulverizer of Bioadsorbent processing machine is powered by 0.5Hp

motor and has a rotating hammer that smashes the dried bio-waste to the sharp

tooth at the internal part of the circular frame, until the grind bio-waste slips into

the sieve.

To test if the centrifugal pulverizer, bring down the dried bio-waste into

the pulverizing chamber. Turn on the motor and then wait until the product comes
down from the sieve. While doing the process, check if the 0.5 Hp motor can

attain such power and angular speed required to pulverize to bio-waste. Observe

also if the produced bioadsorbent from the pulverizer is in the size of 500

microns.

e. Frame

The frame of a machine is the most essential part which needs to be sturdy

and firm to support the weight and action of the machine. The frame of

bioadsorbent processing machine is made in welded angle bar. The durability of

the frame will be tested while testing of all the components attached on it. The

researchers will observe the welded parts of the frame while the machine is in

operation to find out if the welded parts are firm and stable. It needed to

withstand the temperature of the drying oven and the vibration of pulverizer. The

sturdiness of a machine is always based on its frame so it should always be fixed.
