Men’s Lives during Industrialization

(It got worse like pretty bad for the poor guys)

Industrialization is a process of economic and social change. It is one that shifts the
centres of economic activity onto the focus of work, wages and incomes.
(Industrialization in Canada, 2006) The time of industrialization was both a time of
growth and prosperity as well as suffering and a fight for change.

The life of most men in this time was difficult, the stress of working in very dangerous
environments with long hours and having to provide for most of the family income men’s
lives definitely wasn’t getting easier. Most jobs at the time were hard labour jobs
provided by rich businessmen who didn’t take care of the workers and often violated the
safety protocol that was in place at the time because they weren’t being enforced.

The arrival of many immigrants caused the population of the urban area to skyrocket and
causes the urban area to expand farther away from where work was making
transportation for the urban population difficult.
I believe Industrialization made the lives of many men worse for both health and safety
reasons and family reasons such as putting their child in school or even if they will make
it home at the end of the day to see their wife and kids. That kind of stress shouldn’t be
put on someone that is working a low paying job for hours a day. On top of that the fact,
you could lose your life every time you go to work.

In conclusion, I believe that life for men during industrialization got worse due to the rise
of the population and the improper treatment and unhealthy work settings.
