“Many books talk about having the right thoughts, but don’t show
you how. The uniqueness of this book is that it shows how to create
the right thoughts from inside. It shows exactly how to handle
negativities around us by tapping the source within. This book is
meant for humanity and if you are a good human being, you should
take it, read it, follow the path, and make others understand it.”
- Shah Rukh Khan, Actor, while releasing ‘The Source ... The
Power of Happy Thoughts’
“Human Action comes from human motivation... human thought.
So that is the Power of Happy Thoughts. These are very right
words. Many problems today exist because of negligence of inner
peace. So first create inner peace through Happy Thoughts which
shall then even guide science and technology in the external
world.”
“Friends and colleagues in the field of Yoga : “Meditation”, the book
which I have read, is no doubt a guide for you. I appreciated the
book and I think each and everyone should have in their hands and
when there’s friction, you can go through, so that your mind develops
the qualities of quietness and peace.”

Introduction
The Power of Happy Thoughts
A sk yourself these questions:
Can one declaration from me make the world a happier place?
Can one unique idea from me give direction to the world?
Can one powerful goal from me change the world?
The answers to all these questions can be a resounding ‘yes’ if
you resolve, “From today onwards, in everything that I see, every
person I interact with, and every event I am involved in, I will
deliberately think and speak only Happy Thoughts.”
So, what is the Power of Happy Thoughts? Do not
misunderstand it as mere positive thinking.
This is what a positive thinker will say, “Problems do not lie

outside, but merely exist in your head. What you think as
impossible is only impossible because you think it so. The
impossible does not live outside of you – it is within you. You
have the power to change everything.”
Having Happy Thoughts is much more than positive thinking.
One who practices The Power of Happy Thoughts, has a deep
assurance within. He or she does not look at problems as
problems at all. His or her peace is not disturbed come what
may. He or she understands that filling one’s life with both,
peaceful experiences and truthful thoughts, leads to a bountiful
and wonderful life. He or she gives importance to having the
right thoughts and being happy.
The “Power of Happy Thoughts”refers to two parts:
Thoughts: The one who harnesses the Power of Happy
Thoughts, gives direction to his thoughts.
Happiness: The one who harnesses the Power of Happy
Thoughts, operates happily from TheSource.
What is this Source? The Source is the background from where
thinking, feeling, and doing emanate from. Beyond the three
dimensions of thoughts, feelings and actions, lies the dimension
that holds the key. This dimension is consciousness itself – the
existential experience of being alive, the realm of being. Since it
is the principal dimension of all, on the foundation of which
everything operates in a human life, it is called The Source.
The Source is the creative principle, the source of all possibilities.
When The Source is experienced, the qualities of consciousness
such as abundance, purity, joy, compassion, love, courage, peace,
harmony, and creativity are manifested. By doing so, we can
create a perfect life, not only for us, but also for everyone around
us.
When The Source is accessed, you shall say, “The only problem
is to see a problem as a problem.” You go beyond positive
thinking. Problems are no longer an issue. There is no need to
wish problems away.
To create a perfect life, it is important to understand both,The
Source and the thoughts that arise in The Source. Both “being”
and “thinking”. Both “right thinking” and “peaceful being”.Both
“happiness” and “thoughts”.The simple action plan for anyone
to create apowerful life is to live a life of “Happy Thoughts”.
The question then arises, “How to live a life of Happy Thoughts?
The three simple steps to practice Happy Thoughts are to be
aware, be connected and be happy:
Step 1. Be Aware: Be aware of your thoughts
Step 2. Be Connected: Be connected to the Source
Step 3. Be Happy:Be happy always
Between thoughts (step 1) and happiness (step 3), The Source
(Step 2) has been placed. The Source is the missing link. The
Power of Happy Thoughts cannot be harnessed till you
understand and connect to The Soure – the background from
where happiness and thoughts arise – which is all-pervading.
As you explore these pages, you will see and experience that this
beautiful and simple message of Happy Thoughts, the missing
link of The Source and the three easy steps of being aware, being
connected, and being happy is the path of practical spirituality.
Instead of getting caught in constantly trying to achieve things,
you will operate from a happy natural state where you
automatically progress towards your highest potential. Yes! You
can effortlessly create a perfect life. Happy Thoughts is the way.
The key to this way is to be aware, be connected and be happy.Let
us explore each of these parts step by step.
Happy Thoughts!
A s mentioned in the preface, the Power of Happy Thoughts
can be harnessed through three steps: being aware, being
connected, being happy.
“Part One: Be Aware” outlines the seven sutras (rules) that help
you be aware of your thoughts.
“Part Two: Be Connected and Be Happy” first outlines four
mantras (tools) that help you to be connected to The Source
and then goes on to provide three mantras (tools) that help you
to be happy always.
As you read this book, you shall discover seven sutras (rules)
and seven mantras (tools) to effortlessly create a perfect life.
The book ends with Part Three where case studies of how to
apply what you learnt in Part One and Part Two are mentioned.
It is recommended that you read these parts sequentially – first
Part One and then Part Two and so forth.
Part One and Part Two – the most important sections of the
book – consist of thirty chapters. Thus, if you like, you can
read this book as a monthly retreat, one chapter a day, gradually
contemplating and applying what you have learnt.
This book has been compiled from various discourses by the
author and Question & Answer sessions with him. In these
questions asked by numerous people from all walks of life, you
will find answers to many of your own questions. A “question
and answer chapter” follows every sutra and mantra. You may
decide to skip the question and answers if you want a quick
read, although as stated above, they will no doubt answer many
of your own questions.
Important points have been marked in bold.
Various examples and stories are mentioned in the book. They
are tabbed and written in italics similar to how this sentence is
formatted.
A DVD has also been presented with this book that expounds
the sutras and contains practical meditations. The DVD contains
discourses and meditations delivered in Hindi with English
subtitles.
We look forward to your feedback and results – about how you
have created a perfect life – through the secrets revealed in the
pages that follow.
Best wishes,

Thought Rules (Sutras)
Part One
Thought Rules to be aware of
T o be aware of your thoughts, understand the laws of thought.
When you understand the laws, you can master the science of
thoughts. Thought Rules are the laws of thought. Laws exist
naturally, while rules are made by humans. When you
contemplate the laws of nature and create a perfect life, then
you have mastered the laws. You have learned to rule them.
Thought Rules are the laws of thought. As there are physical
laws that govern the world, so too are there mental laws. These
rules have existed since time immemorial and precede man. They
are unchanging and continually at work – regardless of whether
or not man seeks to understand them. They are universal and
apply to everyone without exception.
An important aspect of these laws is that they are at work
whether you choose to believe in them or not. One of nature’s
physical laws is that fire will scald you if you get too close to it.
Whether a man recognizes this law is irrelevant. The fire will
burn him regardless – it is not a matter of faith. However
knowing and believing in this law will help you use it, because
you are the master of nature’s laws the moment you understand
and abide by them.
One may argue that the above statement only applies to physical
laws. But, just as physical laws can be experimented with and
observed in the laboratory, mental laws can be deciphered and
measured in the laboratory of life. Your own life experiences
will tell you that these mental laws work, and it is not difficult
to discover for yourself the way they work.
Close your eyes and visualize your favorite fruit in the refrigerator.
Visualize taking the fruit out and cutting it. Visualize slowly
eating the fruit or squeezing it into juice. Slowly, finish eating
the fruit mentally. Now check what happened with your tongue.
If you concentrated on the task, you should be salivating a bit.
Your saliva is evidence that a thought held strongly in the mind
manifests on the body too.
Let us look at one more example. You may be of the beliefthat
people treat you badly. Indeed, people mistreat you
badlybecauseyou believe it to be so. When you change this
thought and begin to realize that the problem lies actually in
believing in the thought that others are bad, then you will begin
to experience that people behave well with you. So, what
18 The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts
Thought Rule to be aware of
Be aware
Be aware of your thoughts. Be aware of how your thoughts
work. The seven sutras that follow help you to be deeply aware
of your thoughts.Be aware of what you are creating in the mental
plane. Be aware not to pass the wrong orders with your thoughts.
Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want. Be aware
that you are not complaining about others since the world is a
mirror. Be aware that you do not block the natural progression
towards your highest potential through any negative thoughts.
Be aware of the impact of negative thoughts of others on
you.Simply stated, be aware of what thoughts you are seeding
in your mind.
I f you observe people closely, you will discover that there are
some who are successful and others who are not, and that some
are growing while others are not. Those that are growing both
spiritually and materially know certain laws of how life works.
They are aware of the rules of life to some extent, even if they
cannot put the said laws to words. They have figured out things
like, “Where your attention goes, results flow.” On the other
hand, those that have stopped growing are living as if they are
carrying out a prison sentence.
There is also the third category of people – who are neither
failures nor completely successful. They may not have major
issues in their lives, but they are overwhelmed by minor struggles.
Why is this so? There is a law of creation that brings about this
difference in people.
The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts 21

The man was again taken into a deep state of mind and his
blister was cured by suggestion.
Your body is made up of five elements: ether, air, fire, water and
earth. When you think that it’s a cold day, this thought also
manifests in the physical plane. The water element in your cells
begins to predominate and you start feeling cold. When you
think it’s hot, the fire element in your body becomes prominent
and you start feeling hot. From now on, if you want to feel
cool while sitting in a hot room, you can do so. “I am on the
snow-capped Himalayas” – if you hold this thought in your
mind for one minute or more, you will feel less hot or even
cold. The more time you hold the thought, the greater will be
its effect.
To further understand how this fundamental Thought Rule
(Sutra) works, you need to understand how your mind works.
The mind can be divided into the conscious and the
subconscious.
What is the difference between the conscious and subconscious
mind? The difference between them is as vast as the difference
between a breeze and a storm. The workings of the conscious
mind are visible, while the workings of the subconscious mind
are invisible. The subconscious mind works silently, while the
conscious mind sees and experiences every feeling and thought,
makes judgments, jumps to conclusions, and is restless.
Our subconscious mind works according to the instructions
received from the conscious mind; however the true control
room is in the subconscious mind. It does not distinguish
between right and wrong. It merely executes and manifests
thoughts provided by our conscious mind. If our subconscious
24 The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts
Sutra 1
mind receives a wrong instruction – in this case thoughts – such
as, “I can fall sick, I am poor, I can fail...” these thoughts may
turn into reality. Hence it is important to always be aware of
your thoughts and to watch what messages you are sending to
your inner mind.
The relationship between the body and the mind runs deep,
and all thoughts, whether positive or negative, impact your
health. Thoughts hold so much power that if you train yourself
to hold one thought in your mind for one minute, miracles
will soon begin to manifest in your life. At this time, you may
feel that this is impossible, but read further and you will begin
to see how. You have already seen an example that as soon as
you think of something tasty, your mouth begins to water. This
is because of the following law: Our subconscious cannot
see the difference between what is real and what is
imaginary. This is the corollary to the first Thought Rule. Once
you understand that the inner mind does not know the difference
between a real and an imaginary event, it is easy to understand
the first sutra that things are first created in the mental plane
and then manifest in the physical plane. Things change in your
body based on the thoughts you harbor, and things also manifest
in your life based on your thoughts. This means you can easily
attain anything you want – through your thoughts. All that is
needed is the right understanding, a positive outlook, and pure
intention.
You will understand further how things manifest in your life
based on your thoughts when you understand the second sutra.
Sutra 1
Questions and Answers
a lack of control over his thoughts. He does not have the
slightest clue that the primary cause of his suffering is his own
thoughts.
More often, he believes others to be the cause and blames
them. But, when his mind receives adequate training, the secret
will unfold before him that the cause of his suffering is his
own thoughts.
Those who realize the importance of training their mind, take
on the training required for their mind and through their
thoughts better themselves and the world, while those who do
not realize the significance of this training run away from it by
offering excuses.
Q 2. How do we train our minds?
To train your mind, you must change its SICK programming.
SICK is an acronym to signify “Sorrow born out of Ignorance
during Childhood due to Krazy beliefs”. It is “crazy” with a
capital K to denote big baseless assumptions. All the
programming of your mind has taken place during childhood,
in ignorance, by being habituated to the feeling of sorrow arising
from Krazy baseless assumptions that were drawn without
understanding the full picture of life. What kind of
programming can take place in such a state? The wrong kind.
What mental structure has taken shape within you? The wrong
kind.As a child, the first time your mind saw your body being
injured – or observed yourself crying- or being abused or slapped
–you did not know how to look at this event. You witnessed
28 The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts
Sutra 1
that scene in ignorance and sorrow and made crazy and baseless
conclusions about life. Then you carried this understanding
throughout your life, and not once it may have occurred to
you to change your thoughts. Maybe, these assumptions or
beliefs were required in childhood for whatever reason, but
they are no longer required. You have probably not considered
changing your thoughts since you are not trained to do so.
But now that you are an adult, you are gaining the knowledge
to alter the very manner in which your mind processes
information. You will be able to rewrite the old records of
SICK programming with Good programming, and then move
further to God (Divine) programming. You will become a
stronger, happier and a more positive individual with a
constructive influence on the world.
The way your mind saw a given event for the first time is the
way it sees similar events even today, regardless of whether or
not you realize it. If today, somebody speaks to you of abusing
or slapping someone, your mind starts to re-envision the same
misery it experienced before when someone abused or slapped
you. Whatever you experience from morning to night, it is your
mental programming that directs you. If during your childhood,
your mind developed the association that if you sweat it means
you are tired, then that is precisely what it will tell you now.
Automatically, without consulting you, your mind passes the
order along to your body that you are tired, and a wave of fatigue
passes through you so that you actually feel tired – regardless of
the reason for your having sweated. In this manner, countless
The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts 29
Sirshree
associations have been made, but you need to change this
programming and develop new ones.
Q 3. How does the mind get programmed in the first
place?
When a thought is repeated again and again, it seeps in and
settles in your subconscious mind. This is the process
ofprogramming the mind. Programming can be either positive
or negative. For example, if you always think, “There is an
abundance of wealth,” then you’re much less likely to experience
a lack of money in your life. If you repeatedly think, “I have
great self-confidence,” then all of your life’s work will reflect
that confidence. This is positive programming.
We are continuously programming our mind right from
childhood. A child does not know what is right or wrong, but
whenever he is given a thought he imbibes it. This is how his
mind gets programmed:
A mother tells her child, “Son, we are going to have some guests
in our house this evening.” Sure enough, the child sees guests
arrive in the evening. One day, she tells him, “It is going to rain
today,” and he sees it rain that day. Since the child is naive, he
does not realize that his mother had called the guests over or
that she had heard the news and had predicted the rain. The
child feels that whatever his mother says is always right. Then
one day, she tells him, “You are good for nothing.” He feels she
is right, and that thought goes deep into his mind, and with
time it eventually settles or gets imprinted there. In this manner,
30 The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts
Sutra 1
Besides doctors, scientists too have begun to give credence to
the importance of Thought Rules, and some scientists predict
that there will be devices to help us discover and harness these
laws of creation.
Q5. Speaking of science, is there any scientific evidence
that things get created from our thoughts?
The best evidence would be to contemplate in your own life
and see how you first harbored a thought and then it manifested
into reality. Experiment with the Sutra so that your conviction
grows. However, since you asked about scientific evidence, let
us understand this more with some lessons from Quantum
Physics.
Quantum Physics is that branch of science that deals with the
energy the universe is made up of. The universe is made up of
atoms, and every atom is made up of subatomic particles of
protons and neutrons, while electrons orbit around the center.
One of the most compelling discoveries of quantum physics
was that subatomic particles can behave like a wave. Think on
the implications of such a thing. Subatomic particles – electrons
– are constantly teleporting around an atom, never being in one
place at a time. In reality, they move through every possible
path to their new destination, in a manner similar to that of a
wave.
What quantum physics discovered was that when firing electrons
through two slits, it produced a pattern of light and dark areas
on the target surface – not simply two highlighted areas, but a
32 The Source ...Power of Happy Thoughts
Sutra 1
striated pattern. With only one slit, there was a simple and even
distribution, but with two, the electron waves interfered with
one another to cancel each other out in some places, and thus
generate a pattern of lines. They tried shooting one electron
at atime, expecting each electron to pick a slit and once again
produce an even distribution, but what they discovered was that
they still interfered with one another – this means that each
individual electron was moving through both slits at the same
time, just like a wave. Things got even more interesting when
scientists tried to observe this process, because the act of seeing
the electron forced it to “choose” a specific slit, and therefore
not cause interference to the others. The act of watching an
electron forces it to move like a particle and not a wave.
So what does that mean for us? When you consider that our
entire world is made up of electrons and other small particles,
the implications are enormous. An observer actually modifies
objective events on a subatomic level. Our act of observation,
thought, and emotion affect the world. When scientists made
attempts to watch an electron and decide where it would go,
they found that wherever the observer anticipated it would show
up is where it would show up!
Put simply, scientists conducting these experiments discovered
that the results were always affected by their own thoughts.
Things are first created in the mental plane. These experiments
categorically prove that the essential substance from which the
Universe is made responds to our thoughts.
