GEE This works. However it's extremely slow you have to wait for the entire video to play thru, A much faster solution I've found is to use handbrake. By default you just drag the .mkv file into the window and hit start. Or if doing a TV series drag them all in one by one and hit "Add to Que" a 1 Hour long 1080p Video takes about 10 min on my PC and a 40 min 720p TV show takes about 5 min, Has worked flawlessly with iTunes using this method. The author of this post uses a method that from what | understand used to work. It was intended to take an mkv video and instantly convert it to an mp4 by just changing the ‘encapsulation so you didn't have to re-encode the entire video. When this used to work it was the best method be you wouldn't have to wait. From what | can tell it's really hit or miss with ‘Tunes on the OP's method. ‘TLDR: Download handbrake freeware and drag your mkv file in and hit start. Done, Edit: | just downloaded a 1080p Series Altered Carbon Season 2 from eztv. The OP's post actually worked perfect and instantly converted them all into a usable format in iTunes, So those saying it's a garbage post are wrong it's not garbage. However it is really hit or miss and probably has to do with the way the video was originally encoded. First play the video with VLC, then click on the View tab on top. Click ‘on VLsub at the bottom of the dropdown. In the opened dialogue box select language, then you can click Search by hash or Search by name, whichever works. In a selection of subiilles, choose the closest one that matches the title of the move, then click Download selection at the bottom. You should be able to use the downloaded subs.
