A man by name of Albert Einstein once said: "everybody is a genius"; but if a person is judged only by his

ability to perform certain tasks, then he would live his whole life believing that he is stupid. Modern
schooling makes students do more homeworks and requirements, and rated by their capability to
complete the task. The outlandish part about it, school determines the future of the students by their
scores in a standardized test. Perhaps, what is visible is only is the tip of iceberg. Then, hear me out, the
school should attend to our dreams, and help us on our journey enjoying what is called life.

The school is an environment where students are most likely to discover their own self, realizing what
they are capable of, and their significant contributions to the world. In contrast, school creates a
horrible environment: an environment where scores are prioritize than character building, tolerate
stress than emphasizing self-care and mental health, and nurture academic skill than skill to live. Did the
school realize their stand right now? I am not quite sure, but this is what transpired throughout the
history. School should be like home where we are appreciated by our progress than living on the grudge
of failures; it is where we are nurtured with love and affection than drowning from the misfortune; and
it is where we are taught abundant skills to harmoniously live with others. School is like home where we
have our loving parents, our teachers.

Teachers are often get blamed if the students did not meet the expectation preferred by the school.
They are not the problem, policy and curriculum makers were the right person to question why the
students did not meet the expectation. Teachers are governed by policy and curriculum whcih they are
expected to follow. Teachers should have been given more consideration. They should have given
decent wage equal to a doctor. If a doctor can perform a heart surgery to save the life of a kid, a teacher
can touch the heart of a kid and allow him to truly live. Sadly, few teachers are worthy for this ambitious
compensation due to the fact, there are teachers who does not care about the uniqueness of their
students.

Howard Gardner came with a theory of multiple intelligences. There are learners who learn through
touch, stories, movement of the body, etc. School should have reconsidered their students diversity in
terms of their differences in the level of intelligence. A certain student learns best when he the concept
in action, while other student learns best when they perform it. There are students who excel in
communication but does not do good in solving mathematical problems. Imagine, if a doctor gave the
same exact medicine to the patients, the result would be lethal and tragic. Unfortunately, this is what is
happening in school. The same set of learning modalities are provided for a number of diverse learners.
Did the school even considered the students who will not excel in the preferred modalities? Many
students may relate to this one where they will be left out if they can not do the task. This affects their
life as a whole. The schools destroys many dreams. Who knows, hopefully not one of my classmates will
become the victim of this educational malpractice.

Unfortunatelt, there is no single solution to these. But, through intensive collaboration, customizing
school's policy and curriculum, and abundant amount of consideration, then perhaps this ambitious
dream of attending to the dreams of the students will be possibile. There is no telling what can achieve,
but the students will have greater impact to our lives. Maybe we students are just 20% of the total
population, but we are 100% of our future. Thus, dear school, teachers and fellow students, let us attend
to our dream, and make it to reality.
