1. Questions 1-4 of 5 Marks each. Questions 5-7 of 10 Marks each.
First four questions to be done using MS Word using good
formatting standards and the last three on the Excel sheet. Data
for Question 7 is on the Excel Sheet.

2. Word Document is to be finally saved as pdf document with name

like 103490-yourID.pdf. The Excel Workbook is to be saved with
same name like 103490-yourID.xlsx (Not to be saved as pdf). Any
other name will get negative marks.

3. Direct copying from the Internet or some other student will get
poor marks. Don’t share your answers with other students else you
will also get poor marks.

Part I using MS Word

1. What do understand by a Software? Differentiate between
Application Software and Systems Software. Name some
important Application Software and some System Software.

2. Present day computers are coming with Cache Memory, RAM and
variety of storage devices. What is function of each one of them?
How the conduct of business has changed because of
advancement in these technologies?

3. Differentiate between Network and Telecommunication. What is

contribution of increase in Internet bandwidth in the conduct of

 businesses, especially those businesses which have global
operations?

4. What is Database and a Database Management System DBMS?

Discuss the functions of a DBMS. While designing database for a
business, what is the role of Entity Relationship Diagram ERD?
Give example of an ERD of three tables for placing orders by
Customers for purchasing Products. Identify Primary and Foreign
Keys.

Part II to be done using Excel

5. Meezan Bank has offered loan equal to the present market price of
vehicle that you or your family owns. The bank wants the loan to
be paid back in 5 years in 20 equal three monthly (Quarterly)
installments. Present Annual Interest Rate is 18%.

Prepare a Mortgage table for payment of loan. The table should on

top of the page take input of the Car Price, Interest Rate and
Payback Period. The mortgage table must show the Starting
Balance, the Installment to be paid, the Quarterly Interest and
Balance at the end of Quarter. The loan must finish off in 20
installments, i.e. the Balance should become Zero.

6. You are to prepare a Marks Sheet for a class of 5 Students, taking

special care of good formatting, font and alignment of columns.
Marks allocation: Quiz 20 Marks, Assignments 20 Marks,
Midterm 20 Marks and Final 40 Marks. The teacher has
conducted 3 quizzes and 3 assignments of 10 Marks each.
a. Total of Quizzes and Total of Assignments are to be
converted to 20 marks each.
b. Compute the total marks out of 100
c. Assign grade to the students on the basis of total marks
i. 85 % : A
ii. 75% : B
iii. 60% : C
iv. Below 60% : F

and then create a Dash Board. The Dash Board is to be on s new
Sheet showing four graphs of equal size for the following:

b. Sales by Sales Persons
c. Sales by Customers
d. Sales by Country
