negative factors of social networking sites. Consistent with research, the majority of BSMT
students cite that the reason for using social networking sites was to socialize and make new

networking sites. According to the data we collected from the questionnaire, most BSMT students of
STMTCC have been using facebook followed by a messenger. Majority of the BSMT students have
been using social networking sites more than 5 years and spend 2-5 hours daily. The researchers
have found out that the reason of the BSMT students of using social networking sites is socializing
and making new friends followed by collaborating with fellow students and study. The BSMT student
respondents perceived social networking sites to have an extremely positive factor and moderately
negative factor as an entire group and when grouped as to year level. There is no significant
difference in the level of positive impact of social networking sites. The level of positive impact of
social networking sites to BSMT students of STMTCC are comparable across year level. However,
there is a difference in the level of negative impact of social networking sites. This means that the
level of negative impact of social networking sites to BSMT students of STMTCC vary across year
