recognise and sound out medial and final sounds /ei/ in at least 5 words

i. PRE-LESSON : PRE-LESSON TASK 5: SIT DOWN, STAND UP
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : 1. Write the words on the board.
Common words: play , watch , day , game , ball , what , hurray , match
Elicit the common letter (a).
2. Pupils read the words aloud in pairs/ groups / class. Check
pronunciation.
3. Model the /ei/ sound.
4. Pupils identify words with /ei/ sound.
5. Elicit spellings for /ei/ sound: ay and a+C+e (ask pupils to say the
letter names).
6. Ask pupils to tell you more words which follow this rule.
7. Write pupils’ responses on the board in tree map form.
8. Pupils work in pairs / small groups.
9. Pupils read the sentences and circle the /ei/ sounds. Pupils read the
words aloud in pairs / groups
iii. POST-LESSON : POST-LESSON TASK 8: MAKE A WORD LADDER
