JAPANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD @ Us B 1177-1997 Hexagon socket set screws Introduction This Japanese Industrial Standard has been prepared based on ISO 4026, ISO 4027, ISO 4028 and ISO 4029 published in 1993 as the 2nd edition, without alteration in the technical contents with respect to the corresponding parts (quality, shape and dimensions). However, items which are not specified in the corresponding International Standards are appended to this Standard as Japanese Industrial Standard. 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the steel hexagon socket set screws (hereafter referred to as “steel set screws”), stainless steel hexagon set screws (hereafter referred to as “stainless set screws”) and the nonferrous metal hexagon set screws (hereafter referred to as “nonferrous screws”) generally used. Remarks 1, When the steel set screws, stainless set screws and nonferrous set screws are generically called, these are simply called “set screws”. 2 The set screws specified in this Standard shall not be used as being subjected to the tensile load. 3° The standards cited in this Standard are given in the following: JIS B 0101 Screw threads and fasteners — Vocabulary HS B0143 Symbols and designations of dimensions for threaded fasteners JIS B 0205 Metric coarse screw threads JIS B 0209 Limits of sizes and tolerances for metric coarse screw threads HS B 0215 Tolerance system for metric screw threads JIS B 1003 Ends of parts with external metric screw thread JIS B 1021 Tolerance system for threaded fasteners JIS B 1041 Fasteners~Surface discontinuities — Part 1: Bolts, screws and studs for general requirements JIS B 1043 Fasteners—Surface discontinuities — Part 3: Bolts, screws and studs for special requirements JIS B 1044 Threaded components — Electroplated coatings JIS B 1053 * Mechanical properties of steel set screws JIS B 1054 Specification for corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners IS B 1057 Mechanical properties of non- ferrous metal fasteners JIS B 1071 Method of verification for size and geometry of threaded fasteners JIS B 1091 Fasteners — Acceptance inspection 4 The corresponding International Standards to this Standard are given in the following : 2 B 1177-1997 ISO 4026 : 1993 ISO 4027 : 1993 ISO 4028 : 1993 ISO 4029 : 1993 Hexagon socket set screws with flat point Hexagon socket set screws with cone point Hexagon socket set screws with dog point Hexagon socket set screws with cup point 2.
