Remarks: The standards cited in this Standard are as follows. Appearance The appearance of bolts shall be such that the surface is smooth and free from such defects as cracks, scratches and rust detrimental to Unless otherwise specified it is preferable that the criteria for permissible surface discontinuity conforms to JIS B 1041. 6. Material ‘The material of bolts shall be carbon steel having a carbon content of 0.2% or loss of which product satisfies the mechanical property given in Table 1, and shall ensure good weldability to rolled steel sheet. It is preferable to check the peel strength to pressing given in Informative reference 1 or peel strength to torque given in Informative reference 2 when it is desired to verify the weldability. 7. Surface treatment —_As a rule, surface treatment is not made on bolts. When such surface treatment as plating is especially needed the details shall be specified. The mechanical property of bolts in strength class 4.8 is based on the inspection programme B specified in 5.1 of JIS B 1051 ‘The hardness inspection may be omitted for bolts subjected to tensile strength inspection, however, the acceptance or re- jection is judged by the hardness inspection for bolts on which tensile teat eannot be made due to their dimensions or the like. 2. The inspection programme A specified in 8.1 of JIS B 1051 may be applied to the bolts of strength class 4.8 instead of the inspection programme B. In this case, the tensile strength, yield point (or proof streas), clongation after fracture and impact strength of head shall comply with the provision of Table 1 3, ‘The mechanical property of bolts in strength class of 4T is based on the inspection programme specified in 4.1 of Annex of JIS B 1051, and the acceptance or rejection is judged by earry- ing out the hardness inspection for bolts on which tensile test eannot be made due to their dimensions or the like. 4, A part of mechanieal property ingpection at delivery may be ‘omitted by such action as verifying the test record, subject to ‘the agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer. JTS Bs2295 94 MH 4933608 053)203 83h mm 7 B 1195-1994 ‘The shank of bolt shall be fully threaded and the length of in- complete thread (x) shall not exceed four pitches ‘The dispersion of the heights of head including projection for welding (Hf + h) from each other in one bolt shall not exceed 0.15 ‘The diameter of part where thread is lacking shall be almost the pitch diameter. ‘The shape of screw end shall, unless otherwise specified, be as- rolled ond for bolts with nominal screw thread diameter of 8 mm or less and header point or flat point for the ones with nominal screw thread diameter of 10 mm or more. The as-rolled end shall ensure good leading into internal screw thread. When header point or flat point is needed for bolts with nominal serew thread diameter of 8 mm or less such requirement shall be specified. ‘There may be some roundness on side face of head worked by press-forming. ‘The minimum dimension of G is not specified but it is preferable that the minimum value is not less than [G (maximum) ~ 1] mm. Peel strength to pressing and its test method (1) Peel strength to pressing The peel strength to pressing when a bolt is tested in accordance with the method specified in (2) is given for reference in Informative reference 1 Table 1. The welded assembly is deemed satisfactory even if the welded part is deformed in the peel test by pressing when the load at the test is not less than the relevant value given in Informative reference 1 Table 1. Peel strength to torque and its test method (1) Peel strength to torque The peel strength to torque when a bolt is tested in accordance with the method specified in (2) ie given for reference in Infor- mative reference 2 Table 1. ‘The welded assembly is deemed satisfactory even if the welded zone is deformed in the peel test by torque when the torque is not less than the relevant value in Informative reference 2 Table 1, provided that the bolt does not fracture at a torque not more than that given in Informative reference 2 Table 1. When the test sheet at the welded zone is teared off by the torque less than that given in Informative reforonce 2 Table 1, retest shall be carried out by using much thicker sheet within the nominal thickness given in In- formative reference 1 Table 2 or by increasing the temper grade of sheet.
