“The Use of Virtual Simulation in Dental Education”

IO key benefits of VR in education :

1. Global teleportation : Learners can travel to places they may not be able
to visit in reality
2. The time machine effect : Learners can experience cultures and historical
events first hand
3. Coltextuelised learning : Lerning can take place in a relevant setting to aid
understanding
4. Multi sensory experiences : Learning engage with content in a
multisensory, visceral way
5. Extraordinary abilities : learners can break the laws of physics and
interact in unique ways.
6. Active outonomy : Leaners are able to direct their within a virtuak
experinces
7. Empathy agent : emotive responses to content help to foster empathy for
others.
8. Virtual rehearsal : leaners can develop skill in a safe, secure environment
9. Remote presence : leaners can connect remotely for global learning
experices
10. Focused emmersion : learners are engulfed and engaged rith the learning
content

Virtual reality CPR trining environment

VR-CPR is a virtual reality experience, designed to provide an immersive
training environtment for healthcare profesionals and lay people. Perform BLSD
and train your skill in there different scenarios : hospital, out of hospital and
pediatric. Children hospitals loa angeles is using virtual reality to train doctors for
high stress situations. Doctors use mixed reality to reduce contact with Covid-19
patients. Thre are many journal about virtual aducation:
1. Virtual and augmented reality put a twist on medical aducation
2. Virtual reality training improves operatin room performance
3. A scoping review of the use and application of virtual reality in preclinical
dental education
4. An innovative virtual reality training tool for orthognathic surgery
5. Hight fidelity virtual reality orthognathis surgery simulator
6. Inovation in response to the covid 19 pandemic crisis
7. Diruptions durin a pandemic : gaps identified and lessons learned
8. Faculty perceptions of virtual reality as an alternative solution or
preclinical skills during the pandemic
9. Developing simulation in multiuser virtual environtment to enhance
healthcare education
10. Utilizing multi-user virtual reality to bring clinical therapy into stroke
survivors homes
11. An immersive multi user virtual reality for emergency simulation training :
usability study
12. Pokemon smile turns brushing your teeth into an augmented reality
adventure

Typodonts
are the first approach dental students take while they are doing
their college preclinical internship and capture the theoretical knowledge of
anatomy, pathologies and treatments of physical form without the need of
a real patient.Used for years, they are the best tool for learning and
practice, providing extra value beyond memorizing a few notes or anatomy
atlas. The phantom is used next to the model, a Mannequin to imitate the
patient in clinical position on the dental chair.Inside the oral cavity of the
phantom the typodont is inserted with two screws, and allows to imitate the
movements and inclination so that the student is practicing the posture,
rotations and proper handling on the patient.
