Overview
Sophos AutoUpdate is missing during initial Central managed Sophos installation or during an update. To resolve this issue, it is necessary to manually reinstall Sophos
AutoUpdate before any additional Sophos products or services can be installed.

What to do
1. Log in to the affected endpoint using an account with admin privilege.
2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Cache\decoded\sau. (Note: You may need to show hidden items when navigating via Windows explorer.)
3. Right-click the file Sophos AutoUpdate.msi then select Install.
4. If successful, there will be a Sophos notification indicating that the Sophos AutoUpdate Service has restarted.
5. Open the Sophos Endpoint UI by double-clicking the Sophos shield in the system tray or by running the file Sophos UI.exe that is located at C:\Program
Files\Sophos\Sophos UI
6. Click About at the bottom-right of the window. /
7. Click Update Now to initiate an update.
Notes:
Performing an update can often resolve other missing Sophos products and services.
Check the Events tab if a restart is needed after the update.
