It is loosely based on common dance thythms. For example, the introduction is a cascara rhythm in the right hand and a clave rhythm in the left. This gives way, in part 1, to a permutation based on the clave rhythm, ‘The piece has been divided into many parts. These parts may be deleted or repeated as suits the performer's needs. | have seen some performances where the piece has been shortened to fit a time limit (competitions) and some where technical issues limited the material performed. | have also witnessed one performance where the performer added to the piece to take advantage of extended range. (The original is written for a 4 1/3 octave marimba.) Please feel free to "make the music your own.” Performance Notes Part 2 must accelerate. The end of the accelerando is at the double-lateral roll, At that point, the 64th notes should sound like a roll Measure 23 is to be Yudged."
