In this course I was able to analyze various aspects of
communication. Most importantly I was shocked with the fact that non verbal communication contributes about 55% of communication. The Johari window chapter was quite interesting since I was able to find a different version of myself when coming across the hidden area and the blind area in the window. Also the behavioural attributes of life positions and the various ego states gave me a better view of human nature. The conflict and negotiation chapter took me back to my U.G days where there were conflicts between me and my fellow mates while arranging programs cultural fests. I was able to understand that poor communication is the root cause of the conflicts. While coming through the topic leadership I was able to understand various behavioural traits and theories of leadership. In the topic Understanding Work Teams I was not able to connect properly to situation and problems since I don’t have the work experience. But still I was able to manage since i have worked as a team for the projects in mu UG days. When going through the purpose and benefits of working teams I was able to understand the fact that the project which I have done as a group is much more effective than the project that I have done as an individual.
The topic Power and Politics was much easy to understand
and it was totally relatable. We all would have definitely came across situations where we find people influencing each other and also people being influenced by others. But I was able to understand this well when i performed a roleplay based on conformity, politics and team’s cooperation concepts. People tend to get influenced and are put in a situation where they themselves agree with an idea which is against his/her opinion for the sake of team cooperation. The role play was really interesting and the idea of conformity was applied even while discussing the topics and preparing for the role back where some of my friends had a different idea but finally they are convinced to do it against their opinion fot the sake of team cooperation. As a whole the Organisational behaviour was an interesting course and it taught me various aspects in a corporate environment. Hope this helps me in taking decisions wisely in my future.
