GEC 003 – The Contemporary World

1. What have you learned in your GEC 003 – The Contemporary World
Course and how it helps you in attaining the TIP graduate attributes?
Many ideas and changes have been brought to us by society over the
years. It made us more independent than before. These past few weeks of
studying the Contemporary World have taught me about the challenges
that our society is facing and how we suffer from a variety of problems.
Those problems and issues that we encounter define today’s world.
Various groups or organizations must collaborate to find a global solution.

Students' knowledge, like mine, will be applied in real-life situations.


Because the modern world addresses timely, relevant, and well-suited
concepts for Filipinos, it is critical to learn the concepts required for
engaging in social issues and developing solutions for them. By
encouraging us to participate in social discussions and giving us the
chance to express our opinions while respecting those of others, this
course assisted me in realizing my potential. Lifelong learning and Social
and Ethical Responsibility are the TIP attributes I was able to achieve.
Evaluating the concepts leads us to draw comparisons to our perceptions
and values, to recognize our place among others, and thus, to achieve a
sense of belonging to society. Finally, as students, we can see that social
change is made possible by individual cooperation and social participation.
We can observe the diversity of societies and learn about the values and
principles that define a democratic society by studying the suggested
themes. The role of institutions in society, the potential contribution of
individuals, and the contexts or institutions that might serve as the basis for
social action are all things to be taken into account when taking a position
on current global issues.

We sometimes work alone while thinking back on our education. It is


crucial that we consider what we have discussed thus far. This reflection
leads the students to a heightened understanding and regulation of their
educational process. Documenting this knowledge they apply their training
in comparable circumstances or another context.
