BS EN 60529:1992+A2:2013

National foreword

This British Standard is the UK implementation of EN 60529:1992+A2:2013.

It is identical to IEC 60529:1989, incorporating amendment 2:2013. It
supersedes BS EN 60529:1992, which is withdrawn.
The start and finish of text introduced or altered by amendment is indicated
in the text by tags. Tags indicating changes to IEC text carry the number
of the IEC amendment. For example, text altered by IEC amendment 2 is
indicated by .
The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical
Committee GEL/70, Protective enclosures of electrical apparatus.
A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on
request to its secretary.
Annexes designated “normative” are part of the body of the standard whilst
annexes designated “informative” are given for information only. National
appendices are designated “informative”.
The foreword of EN 60529 makes reference to the “date of withdrawal” (dow)
of the relevant national standard. In this case the relevant national standard
is BS 5490 which was withdrawn on 1 July 1992.
The publication does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a
contract. Users are responsible for its correct application.
Compliance with a British Standard cannot confer immunity from
legal obligations.

This British Standard was

published under the authority
of the Standards Board and
comes into effect on
31 January 1992 Amendments/corrigenda issued since publication
