Emerging Technology Project

3 Hours
IT-IDT-4: 4.3 Describe and explore current and emerging software, including operating systems and
application software
IT-IDT-5: 5.2 Describe trends in emerging, evolving, and future computer technologies and their influence
on IT practices, including mobile technology, computing tablets, cloud computing.

Instructions: Create a Canva.com about 2 different Emerging Technologies. Poster(s) must include at
least 2 videos, 4 photos, provide explanations (how it works, list of features, cost/projected cost, release
date/projected release date, your thoughts about the technology) of each technology so that a 5th grader
can understand

Emerging Technology Vocabulary: virtual reality, augmented reality (for example Pokemon Go), cloud
computing, natural language user interface (for example siri or Google Voice Search or Google Voice
Action), gesture recognition, motion sensing input device (for example kinect), wearable
technology(smartwatches, fitbit) ,drones, Mobile operating systems(Android,ioS), muti-touch screens, 3D
printers, eye-tracking technology, Healthcare IT - robotic surgery, Automotive Technology - driverless car,
cadillac super cruising, Tesla driver assist, flying cars ,Artificial Intelligence(play chess against computer),
Augmented Reality(Pokemon Go, Instagram), Cryptocurrency (bitcoin), Virtual Assistant & Smart Speaker
(Alexa, Google Home), Internet of Things (Smart refrigerator), Home Surveillance/Security System (Ring)
