Modul 4 – Advanced Reservoir Flow Solutions
Solutions to Dual Porosity - Interporosity PSS Flow Approach
Due date: 4 Desember 2020

Given:

In this assignment you are to derive solutions of radial flow diffusivity equation in dual porosity system,
which in dimensionless term is given as:

[Fracture Well System] …………. (1)

[Matrix – Fracture System] ……………… (2)

The initial and boundary conditions considered in this assignment are:

● Initial Condition:

𝑝𝐷 (𝑟𝐷, 𝑡𝐷 = 0) = 0 [Uniform Initial Pressure Distribution] ................................................. (3)

● Inner Boundary Condition:

[q = Constant (production case)].............................................................. (4

● Outer Boundary Condition 1:

𝑝𝐷 (𝑟𝐷 → ∞, 𝑡 𝐷) = 0 ["Infinite-Acting" Reservoir → No Reservoir Boundary] ................. (5)

These equations describe the flow of idealized dual porosity model, developed by Barenblatt et. al.
(1960), and used by Warren & Root (1963)

Instructions/Questions:

Your tasks are to

(a) Show the development (re-derive) of dimensionless equations in Eq (1) & Eq (2) from Field
Units, explain variables that is used in developing Eq (1) & (2) especially  and 
(b) List all the assumptions used in Warren & Root dual porosity model, give comment on “how
good” is the assumptions in physical reality (you may also show/use field data)
(c) Show that for 𝑡𝐷 > 100, the solution for Eq. (1) – (2) in wellbore follows

Hint: use line source solution (Ei solution)

(d) Plot the dimensionless variable solution (𝑝𝐷ƒ 𝑣𝑠 𝑡𝐷) given in (c) for several values of Z and m
using semi-log scale. Use time domain up to 1010. Give physical explanation of pressure
behavior change from early to late time
