STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

It all started when my parents gave me a Mechanix play kit for my 8th birthday when I
found out that something as simple as a few plates with holes and some fasteners could be
used to make almost anything that struck my curiosity. It kindled my passion for imagining
and buildings new things, creating the basis for my passion to become an engineer. At the
same time whenever I saw an engine in a vehicle or an earth mover, my curiosity to know
how everything worked went up. This thirst to know the mechanics helped me find my
calling, Mechanical Engineering.

After learning basics about Thermodynamics, combustion, kinematics and similar subjects in
High school, I decided to start my career by getting Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Once I entered college, my interest in learning the subjects grew enormously. This gave me
ideas to work on and take on projects that would only intensify my passion for research and
higher studies. After completing my diploma, I decided to develop my career by pursuing an
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.

In my sophomore year, persuaded by the need to find alternate energy sources, I came up
with an idea involving the utilization of the sun’s thermal radiation to produce electricity by
concentrating on thermo-electric devices. This helped me understand different fields like
Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Automobile, Power Electronics and Energy. The idea was
later translated into a technical publication which won several accolades when presented at
our college symposium.

Further on, during my junior year in Diploma, I got an opportunity for an implant training at
Asian Motors. This company specializes in Tata Motors car services and Overhauling the
Tata cars engines. This helped me have hands-on experience with processes like overhauling
Turbochargers and Diesel pumps. In the third year of my undergraduate degree in
mechanical engineering, I also came up with a project on Design and Fabrication of Electrical
Power Steering.

I am currently working on reduction of NOX emissions by pyrolysis of plastics. The

application of the system is to scale up plastic wastes to produce usable fuel that can run
engines with comparable performance to conventional fossil fuels. This idea gave me the
final push that transformed my curiosity of knowledge into a profound interest in
conducting independent research.

Apart from academics, my working experience gave me the great exposure to the
Automotive technology. During my training period in our company, we have done several
projects on Turbochargers to improve the efficiency of the vehicle and also done a project
on fuel injectors and Diesel pumps to improve the fuel efficiency and mileage of the vehicle.
After the success of this projects, our proprietor promoted me as Service Engineer in SAAI
MOTORS. My pursuit of knowledge on the latest trends and the state of the art innovations
across the globe allowed me to become a member in the professional body-Society of
Automotive Engineers (SAE).
I am an active volunteer in an NGO named “U&I”, which involves educating children from an
underprivileged background. During weekends I teach English and Math for children of
grades 5-10. This experience has helped me understand the importance of education and
my interest in teaching.

Having decided to get Master of Science degree, I am mindful of the level of dedication and
resolve it will take to be able to contribute to research in the field of thermal and
automotive technologies. I would like to focus on my knowledge and fresh thinking to
develop innovative solutions that will address the emerging needs. My eagerness to pursue
research and my technical qualifications in the field of energy, combustion provides me with
the confidence and the motivation needed to make a positive contribution to my chosen
field.

My desire to study and conduct cutting-edge research in this domain leads me to apply to
your university. University of applied sciences Ingolstadt research in the areas of my interest
makes me believe that this is the best place to obtain higher education.

I am optimistic that my education, skills and knowledge will help contribute to the research
done at Ingolstadt University. With the help of a Master of Sciences degree from Ingolstadt
university, I am confident that I will reach my goals and pave the road for my PhD. Thus, I
am looking forward to becoming a HOKIE and request the esteemed committee to consider
my application favorably.
