ACTIVITY 1 (20 points)
Look at the following map. You are at the Toy Shop ( ). Write directions to get to the following
places: the bookstore, the bakery, and the pharmacy.

a) If you need go to the book store, you need walk to the north for the mackerel boulevard. When
you are in the library, turn to the right and walk one more street. When you are in the Frist avenue
and trotline lane cross the avenue and you gonna find the book store

b. If you want go to the bakery, you need walk two streets to the east for the first avenue. When
you are in doctor´s office turn to your left and cross the sidewalk. Walk one more street and you
fine the bakery between the videos shop.

c. If you want go to the pharmacy, you need walk only one street to the east. In this place you
gonna find a supermarket, so, you gonna cross the side walk in the tortine line and you gonna find
de pharmacy behind the hotel.

ACTIVITY 2 (20 points)

Look at the following map. Provide the location for these buildings: Water plant, Police Station,
City Middle School, City Library. Use the prepositions in the word bank below
in - opposite - next to – between - behind - on – north - south – east - west

a. The water plant is on the south east of the city, is next to the river park, in on the grove st. and 5

avenue.

b. The police station is on the north east of the city, in front of the county hospital, is on the main

street and 3 avenue.

c. The city middle school is on the east of the city, behind of the country hosptail, is on the oak

street between 2 and 3 avenue.

d. The city library is on the north of the city, between the cementery and the city hall. Is on the main

street and five avenue.

ACTIVITY 3 (20 points)

Select ONE of the cities below and write a 10- line composition describing it. Include the following
items in your description: location, weather, characteristics, main attractions. Use commas and
periods in your text.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Medellín, Colombia

Medellin is second biggest city in Colombia. It’s the capital of Antioquia, one of the more important states in the
country for all the industry and money they have. So much people say Medellin has the best weather in the country,
because not it’s too hot but neither too cold, so is a perfect city for all types of activities. In this city live around 2.5
millons of people, but they have a lot of town`s really close of then. If you count all the people live there, you have a
metropolitan population around 4 millons.The people are really friendly and gentil, so this is really good for the
tourist.
Sounds like a joke but one of the most iconic places in the city is his aerial metro, because was the first and only city
in Colombia to have one, but ist`n the only the have. The most famous place in the city is the “pueblito paisa”, a little
representation in like a little Medellin inside Medellin and also have a really beautiful view for all the city.
The nightlife in Medellin is very famous for all his parties and the concerts the usually have. If you want a good party,
this is your city. So much people talk about his womens, because they are the most beautiful in all the country.
