Undoubtedly, the importance of research in finding medicine for the COVID 19 virus is
indispensable. Companies and other stakeholders have invested on research in the development of
medicines and other precautionary kits.

2. Means to understand various issues

Terry Freedman says in "The Importance of Research for ICT Teachers"(2011): "Research can shed light on
issues we didn’t even know existed, and can raise questions we hadn't realized even needed
asking."

3. A way to distinguish opinion from knowledge

Plato distinguished between “Doxa” (opinion) and episteme (knowledge). While an opinion may
be true or false, but knowledge is necessarily true. Thus, knowledge is supported with facts, or data.
Edwards Deming said: “Without data, you are just another person with an opinion.”
