ACTION RESEARCH FRAMEWORK

What is my concern and why am I concerned

What is the concern/focus for change? Why is this a concern –what is the
rationale? Keep your project focused, small and manageable.

Reflect on your own practice and be clear about your own values and motives.
Additionally, you are expected to consider your focus for change in the context of
the whole programme and wider perspectives (social, professional, political,
technological etc.) within the discipline in the HE sector.

What experiences can I describe to show why I am concerned?

Have you collated some initial evidence/undertaken a documentary review?
For example you may have reviewed student evaluations for the last 2 cohorts or
reviewed assessment outcomes.

What can I do about it? What are your options?

This is where you should consider the options that you have – there may be a
number of options available to you.

What will I do about it? State your research project title and objectives
Having chosen the focus and your chosen option for action you must be clear about
your actual aims and objectives.

What kind of data will I gather to show the situation as it unfolds?

You should show evolution and improvement in your practice.  What data can you
collect to show the impact of any change? What are your chosen methods for
collecting the data and why? Will the data measure your objectives?
