The COVID-19 pandemic has affected each and every resident. The COVID-19 vaccine offers hope of eradicating the virus and will allow life toreturn to normal. To that end, the Town of Billerica has been working diligently to obtain and administer the vaccine. Here is what you should know: * Currently, only individuals in Phase 1 and 2 are eligible for vaccination. Phase one consisted of primarily first responders and healthcare workers. Mast of these individuals have had an oppertunity to be vaccinated. Phase Il includes the following: individuals 65 and over or individuals having twa or more severe ilinesses (comorbidities). This phase also includes certain workers, such as educators, grocery, public works and food and agriculture among others. Currently the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services is granting eligibility to the first Tier of Phase ll - individuals 75 years of age and older. © The State is offering COVID-19 vaccination locations for individuals in eligible groups (75+ years of age) in Phase ll, These are “super sites” and they require appointments. Space is limited but you can check for available appointment slots through the following link. https://www.mass.gov/info-detalls/covid-19- vaccination-locations-for-individuals-in-eligible-groups-and-phases. ©The Town plans to offer the vaccine as they become available to the Board of Health. However, at this present time the Board of Health has not obtained vaccine due to the limited supply of vaccine within the state. The Board of Health anticipates receiving a limited supply of the vaccine and will reach aut to the interested residents once it is received. To be placed on the Town's COVID-19 vaccine list, you can sign up on the form found at www.town.billerica.ma.us or call the Billerica Council on Aging at (978) 215-2021 starting on Friday. The Town will notify you via the information you provide when the Board of Health receives vaccine and a vaccination center is open for registration. Please know the Town has been making every attempt to secure vaccine for our residents and will continue with those efforts.
