SCBA and CALA are two types of breathing apparatuses used in areas without fresh air. SCBA carries its own oxygen cylinder that supplies one user, while CALA's stationary cylinder provides air to multiple users via hoses. Key differences are that SCBA requires carrying the heavy oxygen cylinder but needs no long hoses, while CALA's stationary cylinder avoids heavy lifting but requires hoses to reach users farther from the cylinder. Overall, CALA is preferred as it allows working without pain from carrying a heavy oxygen cylinder.

SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) is a kind of Breathing Apparatus
which is brought by one person and will supply for that person. CALA (Compressed Air Line Apparatus) is also a kind of Breathing Apparatus where no person brings it (the cylinder is placing in some place which is safe) but it will supply for more one person. Both of them are two kind of Breathing Apparatus which has a same function such as supplying fresh air for person/people to breath when he/she/they work in area where no fresh air are supplied for his/her/their breathing. But, they have some differences. So, we will discuss from their component and user. SCBA has some main components such as mask, reducer valve, hose, cylinder, cylinder valve, pressure gauge, back-plate and warning whistle where all of the components have own function and also SCBA has too. Both of them have same main components. The cylinder of SCBA and CALA are made from alloy/iron. The cylinder of CALA is placed in some place which is safe, so we need enough long hose for the user (person/people are supplied fresh air) to reach the place farther. But using SCBA, we must bring the cylinder for supplying fresh air. So, we don’t need long hose for supplying fresh air from the cylinder to the user. SCBA and CALA have a difference from the user. The user when using SCBA must bring the cylinder and it can supply fresh air just for that user who bring the cylinder. But using CALA, the user don’t bring the cylinder and it can supply fresh air for two people or more. From that discussing, we know that SCBA and CALA have own advantages and disadvantages. SCBA’s advantages is we don’t need long hose for suppling fresh air from the cylinder to the user. So we can reach some place farther. When we are using CALA, we must need long hose to reach some place which is far from the cylinder. But we don’t bring the cylinder when using CALA and we know that the cylinder is enough heavy to bring it. Choosing SCBA and CALA for Breathing Apparatus based on the condition of the work area. In some condition, it’s better using SCBA than CALA. But, I prefer using CALA to SCBA because we don’t need bring the cylinder which is enough heavy to bring. So, we can work in a good performance without feeling some pains in our back.
