Producer Michael Rayappan who presented the megahit Naadodigal comes out with one more fascinating wholesome
entertainer. Aadu Puli is directed by debutant Vijaiprakash who has worked with leading directors in Telugu cinema and
has also assisted director Bhagyaraj. Aadu Puli starring Aadhi and Poorna is essentially a family entertainer with elements
of action and romance. “When I first told the story to my producer, I had actually not completed it. I did not know
how it was going to end. But after having listened to the story, Mr. Michael Royappan said, “You will finish it. I know
you will.” His confidence in me from the beginning has been a great motivating factor. When I wrote the story it was a
very small budget movie. Today it has exceeded that amount and run into so many crores only because of the producer.
He did not want to compromise in any way. I never thought I would cast actors such as Prabhu and K.R. Vijaya in my
first movie. Only Mr. Michael Rayappan made it possible,” says Vijaiprakash. “Aadu Puli is a very simple story. There is
nothing extra-ordinary or unbelievable about it. But it is one that can entertain every segment of the audience. From kids
to grown-ups, there is something in it for everyone. It is the complete package!”

goan delights: perad, guava cheese
Perad is a well known Goan delicacy that serves two purposes, it can be eaten
for breakfast on toast when it is not fully cooked or as a dessert when fully
cooked. Perad is more like a jam. You get it when the guava blend is removed
a little earlier from the fire when its light red in color, it does not solidify
and is viscous in nature, while the cheese is solid and has a different texture
altogether.
Ingredients:
1kg Soft Guavas
Sugar (amount based on how much pulp you get out of the guavas)
PREPARATION:
---Cut the guavas into quarters and remove the seeds.
--- Put the seeds in a sieve and add a small amount of water. Rub into the sieve
and press down with a flat spoon so as to extract the pulp surrounding the
seeds, into a bowl kept below the sieve.
--- Blend the guava pieces to a smooth pulp in your food processor. Measure
in Spring, abstracts and geometric prints, how many cups of pulp you have - include the pulp removed from around the

Express Route
You can take long strides, or you can take
quick steps. It doesn’t matter. All that
matters is the direction you are headed in,
the destination you are headed to. And
that’s why when you talk to this charming
young actor you get the feeling he’s got it
all figured out.
GE: You are very choosey about your
scripts. How do you decide which roles
are worth it?
SID: I have a very simple process to help
me make that decision. When I read a
script, I ask myself only one question:
would I want watch this movie in the
theatre. If I want to watch it, I want to
act in it. Often there have been instances
where I wanted to watch the script as a movie, but the role was not challenging
enough. If you’ve noticed, I have not acted in the remakes of any of my films. I have
had huge hits in Telugu that have been remade in Tamil. The reason I did not act in
these remakes is because once I’ve done a role, the search for how I’m going to do it is
over. So doing the same thing again does not excite me.
GE: So you’re looking for a fresh challenge each time...
SID: Exactly. Honestly, I love to do roles that scare me, that make me doubt in my
ability to do them. It makes you wake each day with more fire burning within and
makes sure you never take it easy. 180 (directed by P. Jayendra)scared the hell out
of me when I heard the story. I was very flattered to have been offered the part. It’s a
very challenging role and I wanted to prove to myself that I was the right choice for
it. Many people pride themselves on one great scene or one great dance move. I pride
myself on my consistency. In the intense scenes and in the light ones I have to be the
same guy. I should be as good in the dark scenes and in the fun ones.
GE: You share a very special relationship with P. Jayendra, director of 180. Tell us
about that and how 180 actually happened?
SID: Jayendra is my mentor. He is one of the people who inspired me to get into this
field. I’ve known since I was a kid and have always looked up to him for the wonderful
person he is. He’s directed over 500 ad films, hence has a wealth of experience as a
filmmaker, and yet his first feature film is coming only now. I have been pushing him
to direct a movie, because I know how talented he is. And it’s destiny that he wanted
me to read the script once he had finished it. He wanted me to look at it from an
actor’s perspective. It was one of the most flattering moments of my life. A sort of
validation from my mentor!
GE: 180 is your first bilingual. Have you been consciously putting off bilinguals? And
how is this one different?
SID: Yes, 180 is my first bilingual. For many years I have been avoiding doing a
bilingual because personally I never believed that one content can purely translate to
multiple languages to suit the varying sensibilities of the audiences. But the way 180
is written, in warrants making the film in two languages. It’s a city based film. The
story is set in a very urban geography. 180 has been written and is being made in a very
progressive, universal style that makes it equally applicable to Tamil as it is to Telugu.
GE: Everybody is talking about growth. As an actor how do you measure growth?
SID: So long as a I wake up each morn with a sense of happiness that I am doing what
I love to do and can look myself in the mirror at the end of each day and honestly feel
satisfied that I am doing what I was born to do, I am at least aware that I am not going
down! Growth is a very big word. My goal and aspiration is to be able to do everything
I am dreaming of doing, and if I am being given that opportunity, then it means that I
am doing well!
GE: Twenty years from now...
SID: Twenty years from now, I don’t want to make excuses for why I did not do the
right thing. That’s why I do only the movies that I am convinced about. Not for the
money. Not because someone said it was the right thing to do. But because I wanted
to do it. I always go with my instincts. If it works, the success is ours. If it doesn’t I take
the blame. I will not be able to live with myself if I thought the movie did not work
because someone else was to blame. I may sound like a control freak, but this is how I
function.
2011 brings lots of hope and ambition. Watch out for his many movies: the fantasy
film from Disney Films in Telugu, the Tamil-Telugu bilingual 180, his next outing
with Dil Raju, a hush-hush International venture and the birth of his production
house! All the best!
