Greetings dear Rotarians, 26th Aug – Ann. Padma
This was perhaps one of the most difficult issues of Lighthouse to put together (albeit, in (PE Rtn. Mohan Raman)
a short tenure of a mere few weeks, I admit). 26th Aug – Ann. Ranjitha
Because I was faced with a problem that most Lighthouse editors would be delighted to (Rtn. S. Subramaniam)
face - I had a shipload of content that I had to rearrange and place in the proper manner!

A Nobel laureate guest speaker in the coming weeks. (Rtn PDG Benjamin Cherian)
And of course, our fantastic 1st Full Club Fellowship celebrations, which was nothing
short of a star-studded stadium affair brought onto our individual device screens.
A sumptuous home-delivered yelai sapaad. All our members dress in the tricolour
themes. Family members engaged in the Fellowship itself. A diverse programme of Wedding
colour and sparkle.
It deserved nothing short of an entire supplement by itself… and so that’s what the 25th Aug – Rtn. Raghunath

A NEW AGE IN HYGIENE & SANITATION

PP Rtn. S.N. Srikanth was the guest speaker at the 1st joint meeting of the International Fellowship of Rotarian
Doctors (IFRD) and the Water & Sanitation Rotarian Action Group (WASHRAG), on August 15, 2020.
The topic of his talk was Distance, Hands, Mask: Saving Lives through Social Marketing in Covid-19 Times.
Rtn. Srikanth reveals, "The science of Social Marketing (not to be confused with Social Media Marketing) draws
upon the principles of commercial marketing and behaviour change theory, to make people change their
behaviour voluntarily for their own good and for the good of the community at large, without any gain to the
marketer.”
He has considerable experience in successfully using behaviour-change and social marketing techniques in eye
donation, sanitation and other projects.
In fact, the open-defecation-free communities project of our Club was his brainchild.
With IFRD and WASHRAG forging a collaboration thanks to Rtn. Srikanth, the two groups will soon be working
together on WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) in healthcare facilities around the world.
