Week 3 – Cross Cutting

In week three we were given the task of creating a Cross Cutting film. I loved filming and
editing this work, because we are not in collage filming and editing was a test but nothing, I
wasn’t eager to have a go at. The use of diverse camera shots, examples are long shot, full shots,
extreme long shot. Doing activity’s in class has helped me a lot in filming my cross-cutting film
and the past 2 weeks of short films. The one I used the most was long shots Having access a
DSLR camera and adobe editing software has helped me a lot while making my ideas come to
life, Filming and editing on a phone would be awful compared to pc software because having to
learn new software and finding out where different things are. My biggest problem was trying to
get the right angles, I would get the angle I would want eventually but it would be awkward so I
couldn’t hold the camera still, I solved this buy in adobe premiere pro I stabilized the shot using
the effect ‘warp stabilizer’. Another problem that couldn’t be fixed is the lack of equipment we
had at home; be we are trying as hard as we can to get the shots we need and want. Working
alone wasn’t that big of a problem because of family members that would be happy to act in my
films, as you can tell from this week’s film my mum and dad are both in it. Before filming I
watched many different cross cutting scenes but the best one personally was Inception. As a
whole directing editing this film was something, I have never really been interested in but it was
fun.
