Kinder Egg Advert

The task we set was to make an advert for Kinder Surprise Eggs. We both did a lot of research
towards our ad. Information like Kinder Surprise was co-created by Michele Ferrero and William
Salice in 1974. They made kinder eggs because of an old Italian tradition of putting toys in
chocolate eggs. This helped us because they are aimed at kids and we found that our advert is
completely unique. We came up with 3 different ideas, the first one was directed towards
parents, the second teenagers and Christmas. The third one (the one we went with) is about the
eggs open up and the toys start walking around, similar to Toy Story. Then a person walks in and
they "play dead". We choose this idea because we thought it would be good to integrate stop-
frame animation for the eggs and toys. We used many different filming angles and put in the
ones that worked the best. We did a mix of filming and stop motion; this makes it seem how the
toys are different and have their own story and aren’t like normal toys. The main problem we
found was lighting, because we where in a class room the light was very orange and warm. I
made it cooler on adobe premiere pro using filters and effects but it would have been better if we
got a LED light. As a whole our finished advert is exactly how we pictured it going, me and
Cody did well for a group of just two people. If I had to film and edit it again, I would get better
lighting and make the gaps between the stop motion frames slightly smaller.
