Recount text

1. What is recount text?  Is a text used to retell the past experience When we talk /write about past
events we are giving a recount. Recount is used to write our daily experience. We use recount in :
Diary book, letter or E-mail, biography, history etc. The purpose/social function is to inform or
entertain the reader

2. Generic Structure text.There are three parts of a recount 1. Orientation explains setting (when,
where) and the participants/character (who) happening in the passage at the beginning 2. Events Event
explains a series of happenings in temporal sequence (from the beginning until the end) 3.
Reorientation Describes what happens in the end of the story or conclusion of the story

3. Features of A RECOUNTGrammatical features of a recountRecounts usually include the following


grammatical features: Descriptive words to give details about who, what, when, where and how The
use of the past tense to retell the events Words that show the order (conjunction) of the events (for
example, first, next, then, finally, after that (sequences).

4. Time Connectors to showorder (sequences)  After Before As Until/till Finally After that As
soon as At first First, second… Suddenly When while Then at that moment At the time
