ESSAY

I am Karlo Dave Paler, I was born on December 30, 1999 (21 years old). I am
from Batolusa, Toril, Davao City and I finished my senior high school at Brokenshire
College of Toril under the strand of Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM).
My mother single parent and her name is Elisa G. Paler and my sister’s name is Karin
Dimple Paler a Licensed Professional Teacher. My dream when I was a kid is to
become an engineer, during my high school days I realized that engineering is not
suitable for me I very weak at math but I like constructing buildings and houses. I want
to become a professional artist, and I want to establish my own business in the future. If
you ask about my hobbies, I love producing a music and I have this particular app
where I can do my own music, I can sing but I can’t do runs like rnb genre, I can dance
as well and I joined dance competitions before the pandemic, I can rap and so I can do
my own compositions, I can play guitar, bass guitar, and piano, I really love basketball
and volleyball, and lastly I can draw. I am a self-taught artist, I have a part-time job at
Anti-drama Brand Co. which is a clothing line and I am in-charge with the layout designs
and I have one job also which is commissions, I do commission portraits digitally and
traditionally. My commission portrait boomed during the Christmas season until now and
that is why during my vacation I have no rest. I love watching anime (genre: romance,
school, action, drama, fantasy, and shounen) and I am a big fan of One Piece and I
really wanted to become a manga artist as well because I really admire Eichiro Oda the
author of One piece to his dedication and love in arts. I also love Korean dramas.
I decided to major in accounting because of two reasons, first is during the
university fair at our school, we wanted to enroll in STEM strand but my mother heard
so much rumors about engineering that it will take a fortune to pursue this career we
have no choice because we cannot afford the tuition and materials if I enrolled in
engineering class, and also fine arts costs a lot money. We have no choice that time
and so my mother decided to enroll me in ABM. The second reason is, my mom wants
me to be like my cousin she’s not a CPA but she’s an internal auditor in a security
agency in Manila, her boss doesn’t want her to take the exam and he’s offering my
cousin to double the salary that a CPA could get and it seems like her boss trusted her
so much. Because of these two reasons, I am trying hard to finish this course and I
really am expecting before that it will be a rocky road.
