 The memory card for 30i series, 16i series, 0i series,
Power Mate i series, 20i series, 15i series and Data Server
This document describes the recommended memory cards and matters that require attention in the
following applied system.
The CF cards described in this document are recommended memory cards for the following applied
systems.
Owing to characteristics of the flash memory installed in CF cards, a quality of data written in a card
deteriorates through repetition of reading data for a long-term use. It is known that such
deterioration occasionally cause data error. In case of most CF cards on the market, such data error
is not taken into consideration sufficiently. Additionally, the written data in CF cards cannot be read
out immediately, depending on the condition of the memory. In case of DNC operation, this read-out
time delays the data transmission for CNC and influences the result of the processed goods.
The CF cards recommended in this document are designed in consideration of such data error.
These cards have much capability of correcting data automatically. Therefore, these cards do not
read out the wrong data even if such situation occurs. When these cards are used in the range of
conditions described in this document, the delay of read-out time does not influence the result of the
processed goods.

Please use the CF card of a round sign of the one shipped by the Fast Data Server after November,
2007(Total edition since 02B).
Please refer to the column of 100 Base about 0i-D/0i Mate-D.

SDAD-38-J60, made by SanDisk for confirming the operation.
7 About the following models (except for Data Server), Fanuc uses CF card adapter (Fig. 1-2),
A02B-0303-K150, made by FANUC for confirming the operation.

 2. Matters to be attended to operate DNC operation or Memory operation *5 with memory card in
PCMCIA port
*5: Memory operation with memory card corresponds only by
FS30i series and 0i series(0i /0i Mate-D).

When operating DNC operation or Memory operation with these CF cards, pay attention to the
following matters.

4 (1) In case of 16i series, 20i series, 15i series and 0i-C/0i Mate-C, it is necessary to use the following
PCMCIA card attachment.

7 (2) In case of 30i series and 0 i series(0i/0i Mate-D), it is unnecessary to use PCMCIA card attachment.
You set a CF card in the CF card adaptor, A02B-0303-K150, and then insert the CF card adaptor
into the PCMCIA slot. You must fix it depressing the lock lever of the PCMCIA slot without fail.
Please close the lid in the memory card interface when you use it. (For all display unit)

 (3) On account of characteristics of the flash memory installed in CF card, in case of repeating to read
the written data in CF card, a quality of the written data deteriorates, and as a result the data
errors may be occurred. Even if such situation is occurred, these CF cards have the function that
automatically repair the data and do not read out the wrong data. However, it takes time to read
out the data for a while. This delay of read-out time influences the performance and the speed of
DNC operation or Memory operation, and the result of the processed goods.
So, these things considered please use DNC operation with memory card.
As the conditions for use are different from each CNC system, please use the below conditions.

In case that it is necessary to operate the high performance or process the expensive work-piece,
please use DNC operation of Data Server. In DNC operation of Data Server, this delay of
read-out does not influence the result of process goods and so on.
• Series 16i/18i/21i-A/B, Series 0i/0i Mate-C
Please use the processing time of one block over 16ms.
• Series 15i-A/B
Please use the processing time of one block over 8ms.
7 • Series 30i/31i/32i-A,Series 31i-A5, Series 0i/0i Mate-D
In case of DNC operation, please use the processing time of one block over 4ms.
In case of Memory operation with memory card, please use the processing time of one block
over 24ms.

3. Matters to be attended to operate Memory operation with Data Server in 30i series

Since a reason is the same as 2.(3), please use the processing time of one block over 24ms in Memory
operation with Data Server.

4. Matters to be attended to back the SRAM data, etc up in 16i/160is/18i/180is/21i/210is/20i-A and Power
Mate i series

In 16i/160i/160is/18i/180i/180is/21i/210i/210is-A *6, 20i-A, and Power Mate i series *7, it takes long time
to back the SRAM data, etc up to these cards. For example, it takes one and a half minutes to write
a 1MB file and it takes about 5 minutes to write the 3MB file.
And, in case that the vacant capacity of the CF card is not enough, it may take more time to write the
data. In this case, please delete the unnecessary files in the CF card or format the CF card.

*6: In case of 160i/160is/180i/180is/210i/210is-A, this matters that require attention is when using
PCMCIA port on a body of a stand-alone type CNC.
*7: It is restricted to use PCMCIA port on a display unit with touch panel in Power Mate i series.
Refer the details to the technical report, TMN00/180.

2 5. Matters to be attended to Data Server

7 In case of 0i -B/C, Fast Data Server board ( order spec. A02B-0299-J200, A02B-0309-J146, board spec.
A20B-8101-0450 ) has a interface connector for CF card. It is unnecessary to use CF card adapter.
