XYLENE RECOVERY PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Feedstock is fed to two Catalytic reformers to remove light reformates and heavy
reformates. The resulting solution is then fed to an extraction unit because the solution
forms an azeotropic mixture with other Hydrocarbons. The solution is then fed to a
distillation unit that produces Toluene as its top product. The bottom product is then fed
to a reactor that produces a mixture of mixture of para xylene, ortho xylene and c9
aromatics in both bottom and top products. The top is then fed to a fractional
crystallization unit to produce para xylene as its top product and will produce a mixture of
c9 aromatics and ortho xylene as its bottoms. The bottom product is then fed to an
isomerization unit and is recycled to the distillation unit. The bottom product of the reactor
unit is fed to another distillation unit that produces ortho xylene and c9 aromatics.
