TAKING ACTION FRAMEWORK

Not sure where to start? Here’s a three-step process we’ve found to be helpful:

1. Search
• How is this issue affecting my community? Have there been any recent developments
on this issue in my city, state or country?
• What organizations, especially local groups, are working on this issue?
• Who am I trying to influence? What’s the best way to reach them?
• Is there a timely action I can take on this issue?
o Does an action already exist? Can I support that effort?
o Do I need to create a new action?

2. Prepare
• What do I need to do in advance? Make a game plan.
• How much time will this action take? Schedule time on my calendar.
• What supplies or materials do you need? Gather my supplies.
• Is this my first time taking this action? Practice and/or write a script.

3. Act!

Don’t forget to share your experiences and encourage others to take action, as well. Post on the
Act on Climate Discussion Board or on social media, using #UMichActonClimate and
#ActonClimate.
