Acne – zits
whiteheads (closed plunges pores)

blackheads (open plugged pores-the oil turns brown when it is


exposed to air)

Small red, tender bumps (papules)

Pimples (pustules), which are papules with pus at their tips.

Urarthritis – gout

Characterized by sudden, severe attacks of pain, redness and


tenderness in joints, often the joint at the base of the big toe.

Intense joint pain.

Lingering discomfort.

Inflammation and redness.

Limited range of motion.

Caused by deposits of sodium urate in joints.

Varicella – chicken pox


Fever; Loss of appetite; Headache

Tiredness and a general feeling of being

unwell (malaise)

Raised pink or red bumps (papules),

which break out over several days

Small fluid-filled blisters (vesicles), forming from the raised bumps


over about one day before breaking and leaking

Crusts and scabs, which cover the broken blisters and take several
more days to heal

Gonorrhea – the clap

Men: Painful urination; Pus-like discharge from the tip of the penis;
Pain or swelling in one testicle

Women: Increased vaginal discharge; Painful urination; Vaginal


bleeding between periods, such as after vaginal intercourse; Painful
intercourse; Abdominal or pelvic pain

• TREATMENT: Antibiotics

Herpes zoster – shingles

Pain, burning, numbness or tingling

Sensitivity to touch

A red rash that begins a few days after the pain

Fluid-filled blisters that break open and crust over

Itching

Hypertension – high blood pressure

a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood


against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause
health problems, such as heart disease.

Most people have no signs or symptoms, even at dangerously high


levels.

A few people may have headaches, shortness of breath or


nosebleeds

Influenza – the flu

Fever over 100.4 F (38 C)

Aching muscles, especially in your back, arms and legs

Chills and sweats

Headache

Dry, persistent cough

Fatigue and weakness

Nasal congestion

Sore throat

• MANAGEMENT:

Acetometaphen,Cough syrup/ drops/ lozenges

Legionella pneumonia – Legionnaire’s disease

Headache

Muscle pain

Chills

Fever that may be 104 F (40 C) or higher

By the second or third day, you'll develop other signs and symptoms
that may include:

Cough, which may bring up mucus and sometimes blood

Shortness of breath

Chest pain

Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea

Confusion or other mental changes

Pertussis – whooping cough

Runny nose; Nasal congestion; Red, watery eyes

Fever; Cough

After a week or two, signs and symptoms worsen. Thick mucus


accumulates inside your airways, causing uncontrollable coughing.
Severe and prolonged coughing attacks may:

Provoke vomiting

Result in a red or blue face

Cause extreme fatigue

End with a high-pitched "whoop" sound

during the next breath of air

Rubella -German measles

Mild fever of 102 F (38.9 C) or lower

Headache

Stuffy or runny nose

Inflamed, red eyes

Enlarged, tender lymph nodes at the base of the skull, the back of the
neck and behind the ears

A fine, pink rash that begins on the face and quickly spreads to the
trunk and then the arms and legs, before disappearing in the same
sequence

Aching joints, especially in young women

• MANAGEMENT: acetaminophen, ibuprofen

Rubeola – measles

A childhood disease caused by infection

Fever; Dry cough

Runny nose

Sore throat

Inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis)

Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers on a red background


found inside the mouth on the inner lining of the cheek — also called
Koplik's spots

A skin rash made up of large, flat blotches that often flow into one
another

Cerebral thrombosis – stroke

Trouble with speaking and


understanding. 

Paralysis or numbness of the face,


arm or leg. 

Trouble with seeing in one or both eyes. 

Headache. 

Trouble with walking. 

Fungal infection of feet and toes – Athlete’s foot

Usually causes a scaly red rash.

The rash typically begins in between the toes.

Itching is often the worst right after you take

off your shoes and socks.

Some types of athlete's foot feature blisters

or ulcers.

The infection can affect one or both feet

and can spread to your hand

— especially if you scratch or pick at the infected parts of your feet.

• TREATMENT: Foot power and cream

Inflamed, gangrenous effect of excessive exposure to extreme


cold– Frostbite

At first, cold skin and a prickling feeling

Numbness

Red, white, bluish-white or grayish-yellow skin

Hard or waxy-looking skin

Clumsiness due to joint and muscle stiffness

Blistering after rewarming, in severe cases

Difficulty defecating, irregularity– Constipation

Passing fewer than three stools a week

Having lumpy or hard stools

Straining to have bowel movements

Feeling as though there's a blockage in your

rectum that prevents bowel movements

Feeling as though you can't completely

empty the stool from your rectum

• TREATMENT: Laxative

Biliary calculi – Gallstones

Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain

in the upper right portion of your abdomen

Sudden and rapidly intensifying

pain in the center of your abdomen,

just below your breastbone

Back pain between your shoulder blades

Pain in your right shoulder; Nausea or vomiting

Allergic rhinitis (allergy to pollen)– Hay fever

Infectious Parotitis – Mumps

Swollen, painful salivary glands (parotid glands) on one or both sides


of your face

Weakness and fatigue

Pain while chewing or swallowing

Tonsillitis – infection of the tonsils

Red, swollen tissues in mouth

White or yellow coating or patches

Sore throat

Difficult or painful swallowing

Fever

Enlarged, tender glands (lymph nodes) in the neck

A scratchy, muffled or throaty voice

Bad breath

Stomachache, particularly in younger children

Stiff neck
